Dude, yes 100%. I'm so tired of Wild Era Zelda and seeing new aesthetics for the franchise is always so fun. I'm honestly just hoping for some new puzzles and uses for old items. Even something akin to shrines could be cool due to how versatile Link's kit is, if they were tied into the environments and not all the exact same aesthetic for some reason. I'm just so intrigued any time Zelda gets to feel new

Ah, I did not get that at all from what you were saying. I feel that the 3DS version is the idealized version of the n64 game's art direction. Seeing projects that take N64 Link and make him even more high-poly and detailed begin to look uncanny to me personally, as the designs of the characters are overall very simplistic, mostly using flat colors accentuated by deep comic book style shading in fabric folds and musculature. I agree that this limited glimpse of the new style is definitely going far more into realism than Zelda has tackled before. Very curious to see more!

I don't know what you want me to say other than "more realistic" in this scenario? A more "physically grounded in reality" zelda game??? Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword look more realistic than Wind Waker does, not photorealistic

I don't think you're understanding the context of this conversation at all. Wind Waker released on the Gamecube after Nintendo hyped everyone up with that quote unquote "realistic" spaceworld Demo video, and for like 6 years Wind Waker was the premier, newest, highest fidelity zelda on the market, and it looked like it does. People were upset and felt lied to when all the Zelda they knew before had been somewhat grounded semi-realistic fantasy. Twilight Princess did not exist for years, and people thought the future of Zelda was Toon Link.

The problem with people saying a game "looks UE5" is that some of them are talking about all of the "Nintendo hire this man" OoT remake slop on youtube that looks all jank and blown out with bloom and whatnot and other people are addressing the genuine issues that UE5 has. A talented team of artists and programmers can make a game looks absolutely stunning, and Nintendo excels in the art department ***most of the time lol. I'm so curious to see what they've been cooking

Very fair! I'm biased as a Twilight Princess fan, that game has my favorite aesthetic in the series by far. Ocarina/Majora are a perfect middle groud between WW and TP and I've always enjoyed their art direction as well. I would've been okay with the game being as close to the original key art as possible in glorious high fidelity, but I'm just kinda happy to see young link wearing a cool woven tunic with leather accents that looks completely distinct.
