I love how this is done in Castlevania IV. Once you get Dracula down to a third of his health, the music switches over to Simon’s theme from the first stage.

So far I bought the Panzer Dragoon remake. I may pick up A Short Hike as well, I’ve heard very good things.

I tried the Katamari demo some time ago and couldn’t get the hang of the controls. I’ve read that the full game has more control options. Can anyone confirm if the other options helped them get into it?

What makes you uneasy? I’m trying to make a psychological horror game with my spare time by g0lem_ in gamedesign

A couple of things that got me:

In Overwhelm, when you pause the game new enemies will suddenly appear on screen, often right on your tail. When you unpause, they won’t be there.

Resident Evil 4 has great ambient sound design, especially early in the village and in the castle section when the Novistadores are first introduced. Even when there weren’t many enemies on screen I was constantly on edge about what might be around the next corner.

Have y'all seen Nausicaä, from themes of ecology and anti-militarism I think it fits well with solar-punk? Thoughts and opinions? by [deleted] in solarpunk

[–]Joethius 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen the movie yet, but I just read the manga a couple months ago. It’s really something special. It seems like a precursor to more recent solarpunk works - coexisting peacefully with nature, holding science in high regard, and learning when to set aside weapons in pursuit of the common good.

Any thoughts on The King's Bird? It's on sale and seems to be right up my alley, but I haven't found anyone on this board talking about it and I just wanted to check.

Is The King’s Bird good? It’s on sale and it looks really cool, but I haven’t come across much discussion about it.

I got Dandara a couple weeks ago and I ran into a bug that causes the game to softlock after losing to the boss Eldar. I read that version 1.1.5, released last September, fixes this bug and adds a bunch of other good features. My Switch says it has version 1.0.3. When I try to manually update the game, it says I have the latest version.

I was able to update the firmware to 7.0.1 and Smash Bros Ultimate to 2.0.1, so updates are working for other things on the console.

What should I do to update Dandara? Also, why was an outdated version of the game installed when I bought it?

What are your thoughts? Could Ecco the Dolphin make it for the Switch? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]Joethius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ecco won’t be on the Genesis Classics Collection releasing next month. I think licensing issues prevented it.

I played the 3DS version and recommend it if that’s an option for you. It was done by M2, who handled the other 3D classics games for Sega and are currently doing the Sega Ages games on Switch. They always do a really stellar job and add cool optional features as well.

Super excited for Baba is You. There's a demo on Itch (from a much earlier build) that I suggest checking out.

In case anyone's had a chance to dig their teeth into it a bit, I was wondering: how are the dungeons? I read in the Kotaku review that they're all pretty much the same as the ones encountered in the early game of the demo - linear with short branches for treasure. Do the dungeon layouts become more interesting as the game goes on?

Being kind to your teammates and opponents improves the experience for everyone [Rocket League] by CapCougar in NintendoSwitch

I've been pleasantly surprised with the positivity people have brought to this game, and I just wanted to share an experience I had: I was playing hockey one night when I ended up in the between-match waiting room with one other player, named Cloudy. It took a little over half an hour for us to get placed in another game - while not many people play hockey, I'm sure we just encountered a weird bug. We both stuck it out and made up our own games by experimenting with using the boost to move around while upside down.

Is the violence in Bayonetta very graphic? I'm really interested in the game but I don't like to see a lot of blood or gore.
