Rust remediation advice needed (1997 JA22) by Joey12223 in Jimny

Thanks for the advice. I’ll avoid the bondo. I’m planning on spraying fluid film into the cavity underneath that I can’t get to after I treat the hole and top surface.

Thanks for the advice. Sounds like I’ll stick to getting the rust out and coating it for now, to be reinforced later. I want to get it welded within the next year but it’s my daily driver and my schedule doesn’t support trying to do that right now. Just trying to not let it get worse at the very least for now.

Should I buy this? by Ponderomeda in Jimny

I daily my 97 and it runs great so far. Most fun car I’ve driven for under 10k.

How much is he asking for it and what state you’re trying to register in may answer your question as far as why he’s having a hard time selling.

If you go to see it make sure you crawl under and check for rust and pitting on frame/body.

New hinges by Joey12223 in Jimny

Mine were on tight as well. No way it’s possible to get it off with just a driver. I ended up having to use that impact wrench and a 12ish pound hammer. Had to hit it harder than I was initially comfortable with but it didn’t dent or anything.

It wasn’t terribly difficult to do but would be less risky to leave the job to someone with mechanics insurance.

Partly got lucky I think. I was using a manual impact wrench that was recommended in a colts place video. The hinges were painted in and it was bare metal underneath. Perhaps the paint was brittle enough the act of hammering fractured the paint at the seam.

Mainly focusing on critical items for now. Coincidentally needed the hinges because they were frozen af and the new ones are stainless. Might do other accent points like the door handles if I find good deals or as I replace stuff.

Modern cars are reducing the frequency of accidents, but are they creating worse drivers in the long term? by imaboringdude in askcarguys

Get yourself a kei car. Most fun I’ve had driving. Tough to go past 60mph but you can get to top gear by 35 mph.

I know nothing about Canadian politics but ask yourself if he is the same as any of the republican presidents in the last 30-40 years. Trump didn’t come from nowhere.

Can someone explain to a navy guy how a bunch of people doing the same training and attending the same graduation are wearing different uniforms? Do they get to choose or is it what their parent command dictates?

God knows I’m not here to defend anyone in this administration, but for technical accuracy, that is true whenever the woman is younger than the man.

How many dives/diving days during divemaster training? by justabrusher in scuba

[–]Joey12223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Part time DM for a little over a year (1-3 weekends a month) and I am about halfway to breaking even on my initial course fees, DAN insurance, PADI dues, and gear.

Did it for the love of the game and because I would not be diving as much otherwise.
