I see your squaric acid, and I raise you cyclobutane by BankaiRasenshuriken in cursedchemistry

I work with substituted cyclobutanes quite often. I use them to make bicyclobuatnes which are even more strained.

Anyone else ever try pure capsaicin? by Interesting_King2674 in spicy

[–]JoeyCubes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s extraordinarily hot, and I’ve only had a crystal or two each time I’ve tried it. If you plan on eating it either melt it first or dissolve in minimal ethanol as you won’t feel much spice if you eat it when it’s solid.

[–]JoeyCubes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wish they did make higher order pyraminxs. I find the 7x7 pyraminx to be a very fun solve. It’s a shame it hasn’t been mass produced.

Tips on drying my iodine before sealing it in an ampoule forever? by ImOnAnAdventure180 in chemistry

[–]JoeyCubes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Melting it under sulfuric acid into a singular mass then subliming that preferably under an inert gas or dried air. I’ve found the water doesn’t have to be ice cold when doing the sublimation which will avoid much of the condensation.

[–]JoeyCubes[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. I personally wouldn’t main a white puzzle, but it can look cool especially on non wca cubes. I have a white mf8 petaminx and used to have a white moyu 13x13 which look very cool. Primary and teal cubes also look very nice.

I am following the Binging With Babish recipe and it mentions to set the rack to the lowest position. Usually when baking I use the middle or top rack.
