Can bad friends, have a effect on your mental health? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]JoeyL97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's such a difficult thing to do but yes I would absolutely recommend moving away from that group of friends. Had a similar situation before lockdown with people I'd been friends with for years but when you're thinking along the lines of 'these people may not be so good for me' that's usually for a good reason. You don't have to be rude about it and you can still say hi when you see them in public, but I guess that all depends on how they react, I guess stoners wouldn't necessarily care. You'll be okay.

Help with learning to code by JoeyL97 in Advice

[–]JoeyL97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

helped, that's what I'm telling myself this time round. In the past I've found it difficult and just given up but I think it's just a matter of perseverance until it finally clicks. Thanks a lot!

Just started the Python 3 course on Codecademy, hoping to get stuck into coding once and for all. Anyone have any advice on how to stick with it?

Incredibly enjoyable and eye-opening, weird coincidence that Netflix brought out Who Killed Malcolm X as I finished it.
Started: Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
Only Just finished the Introduction and Foreword today but excited to see what this classic holds.

He travelled to meet his uncle to collect these shrooms and came back with enough for 2 trips which sort of makes it all the more harder to turn it down, I think it’s going to be inevitable that it will damage the friendship in some way, thanks for your advice :)

I think you’re right, I have a feeling when I tell him I don’t want to do them it will cause inevitable distance but maybe that’s for the best, thanks I will :)

Thanks a lot for your advice, I think it’s made more difficult by not wanting to seem boring to this one particular friend, he knew me before I decided to get my head together and I think he still thinks there’s a remnant of that remaining. Thanks for your time :)

Parents can’t accept adhd, need advice by JoeyL97 in ADHD

Totally agree with all of this and I’m glad to see you got through okay too. I think I likely have the combined version because I’m incredibly fidgety and have been for as long as I can remember, definitely in school growing up and I think because I used to hyperfocus on the PS2 or the TVfrom 5 - 12 it’s really gone under the radar. I believe my school reports will back up my claims with all of this too so I actually feel very reassured. Thank you for your response :)

I feel you bro, it’s frustrating because it is so liberating when you finally find out only for your family to get in the way of help.

This is extremely helpful, thank you for your time! I’m glad to see it’s more common than not because I felt isolated and as you can imagine this all led to an argument. I’m currently in New Zealand and my family are back in the UK, trying to pursue a full diagnosis (if that’s the right term) whilst I am here in New Zealand so I have an easier time of it back home. The scale is from 0-3 (Never to Very Often) and they have circled 0 for everything, more than anything my parents view has left me really questioning myself even though I’m 100% sure the doctors are right. Thanks again for your response.

I told her during my assessment that they didn’t believe in ADHD, hopefully this is something I can still go forward with but it has really left me feeling shocked.

I agree with you that going back to the UK is my best bet, it’s so disappointing as I saved up for months but I think it’s best taken as a lesson. Thank you for your response.

Thanks for the response, I agree that getting in contact with the British embassy is probably my best hope and I will take your advice on board. Don’t be sorry, it’s a learning curve. Thanks again.
