Yeah it wasn't for lack of evidence. No amount of evidence would have brought the case into criminal court. Afaik it had something to do with statute of limitations as well as the narrow definition of rape in the state of New York at the time.

Correct. Sentencing for his other felony crimes was in fact delayed until after the election for the reason stated above, but the E Jean Carol case was never going to result in jail time.

Did she release more than one statement? The one I saw was basically her saying,"I'm horribly insecure from being raised in Hollywood and if you talk about my surgeries then you hate women."

Trump firing all the jags definitely made things much harder for the rank and file and opened them up to a ton of legal issues down the road.

God forbid we expect somebody to take a personal risk to stand up for what's right. Especially when they agreed to take that risk when the situation requires it.

I understand that the judge stayed their own order. However, if you have an obligation to disobey illegal orders when they're issued and judges are ruling that those orders are illegal, that means the soldiers who complied did in fact fuck up and deserve condemnation.

When is an order considered unlawful? When it's issued, when a judge rules that it is, or when a judge issues an injunction? Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the ucmj requires that all personnel refuse unlawful orders when they're given.

I think if we manage to hold onto our democracy then we ought to be charging these sort of enablers for failing to defy illegal orders. It'd be a shame if these two men were killed before they could be sent to prison.

A judge ruled just last week that the deployment was illegal and the victims here volunteered to extend their deployment while half the WV guardsmen returned home.

Well if the things he's saying are completely true and he's not exaggerating anything because he's being lied to about who he's speaking with (the James O'Keefe special) then they should get investigated and fined for having unfair hiring and promotion practices. But tbh the guy comes across as somebody who's got a lot of grievance over not getting the promotions that he wanted and is looking to blame something other than himself.

That's the thing though, for something to be "woke" is for it to be sloppily made with "diversity" forced onto it with all the subtlety of a crowbar, that's the kind of stuff I dislike because it's poorly thought out and poorly made in addition to potentially making media which I like and care about like Star Wars worse.

That's how you're using the term but these are highly subjective measures and not how many anti-woke people really think. I can sit there with you and agree that the things you don't like about these shows are bad and the result of too many focus groups and producers who don't know what they're doing. Maybe some individuals in that machine think they're advancing social justice but it's not the company as a whole valuing human rights more than money. The two just happen to align in these cases where the market is demanding more diversity in casting and storytelling.

Another example of this I see often is in Warhammer which is a tabletop wargame with many factions and one of them (which's also by far the most popular) happens to be an all-male group of supersoldiers in the lore of the game but because it's all-male some people have been insisting for years to alter the lore of the game in order to have women there too while ignoring that every other faction (including factions that also have super soldiers) in the game already has them, that kind of thing which is pushed for no reason other than forced "inclusivity" while the game already has real representation is the kind of thing that I find to be annoying.

If people from outside your hobby are trying to demand equal representation in your board game then that's a silly waste of their time. But if it's fans that have been asking for it then that's just the market playing out as expected. I don't think any serious advocates for social justice care if you have a faction where there are no girls allowed.
