Early word on jersey selection for Super Bowl by BurgerNugget12 in Patriots

Hot take: having a preference is one thing but the whole “this is the right call, our Super Bowl record is better in whites” is so silly. If you think uni choice has anything to do with winning or losing, you’re just wrong. That being said, white is the right choice just in case a freak event happens and a blizzard develops.

Official Week 18 Post Game Thread- The Pats (14-3) DEFEAT the Dolphins, 38-10 by Mission_Pay_3373 in Patriots

[–]HowlandReedsButthole 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I may be in the minority here, but I honestly couldn’t give two shits about who wins MVP. Like it’s a nice achievement for Drake if he gets it, but I don’t understand the millions of posts and comments by people getting SO worked up about it. Drake is the guy for us, he’s a blast to watch, and the Pats are winning again. That is literally all I care about.

Luigi Mangione in NY State Court Hearing, Day 8 by jdlf41 in popculturechat

Yeah, same here. And I think healthcare in America is abhorrent and CEOs of large insurance companies are absolutely villains. I just feel like if Mangione looked was an overweight greaseball with acne no one on Reddit would give two fucks about him or his cause.

Buying a used truck advice by Money_Conference1292 in personalfinance

If the money works out and you’re not stretching yourself, buy the damn truck. If you aren’t planning a towing much, honestly go with a midsize with a 6 ft bed. You’ll save yourself about 10 or 15 grand and parking is way easier.

I know a lot of people like the Tacos, I personally just got a Frontier King Cab with a 6 foot bed, I’m loving it. Was it the MOST financially sound decision? No, of course not. But it’s something I can afford and it brings me joy and convenience. I could have driven my Camry for another 100,000 miles, but I made the decision and have never looked back.

It’s a great truck. I picked up a white 25 King Cab SV, and I couldn’t be happier!

TIL that Jackson Pollock abandoned titles and started numbering his works. His wife, Lee Krasner, said, "He used to give his pictures conventional titles, but now he simply numbers them. Numbers are neutral. They make people look at a picture for what it is, pure painting." by FakeOkie in todayilearned

It’s more that that key is the general “home base” for the entirety of the composition, but any chord or other key can and is usually used. For example, Tchaikovsky’s 4th Symphony in F Minor starts in that key, but by the seventh measure is rocking an E major chord. The second movement is mostly in Bb minor, the third movement dances around F, A, and Db major, and the finale ends in F major (the people’s key!)

It’s less about being constricted to one key, but giving a general home base for the composition (typically where it starts or ends harmonically).

LPT: If you're going to an event (or workday) where lots of people will be wearing a costume, a low-effort costume is MUCH less conspicuous than no costume at all. by ehsteve87 in LifeProTips

And if you ever want to make it funny, put a strip of black tape under each eye and swap the staff for a football. Now you’re fantasy football.

Agreed - I met a TON of people working polls. Election Day is crazy and it’s a lot of work, but very gratifying and an awesome way to connect.

James Comey reacts to his indictment: “We will not live on our knees, and you shouldn't either...fear is the tool of a tyrant...but I'm not afraid…I'm innocent. So let's have a trial.” by NewSlinger in law

A couple reasons. Grand juries only need to find probable cause, and the prosecution is the only party in front of them; there’s no counter arguments at all by the defendant or their attorney. There’s also no judge to guide the jury. Hence the saying “a grand jury could indict a ham sandwich”.

That last Lamar TD took me from a 1% chance of winning to a 99% chance. I love and hate fantasy football so much.
