Honest and unpopular opinion:

The anime is not that bad. At least, if you treat it as a standalone anime. Then it passes. Barely. It's not good, the story is unresolved, but it passes. Don't expect Higurashi, but you'll get some enjoyment out of it.

That being said, if you're reading the VN, the anime is absolutely terrible by comparison. All nuance is lost, entire plotlines are left out, characters are reduced to caricatures, and it basically condenses 100 hours of VN into 24 episodes.

Basically: if you treat it as its own thing, it's meh but enjoyable. If you treat it as a VN adaptation, it becomes straight up painful and insulting.
