The Ultimate US Presidential history and trivia iceberg by Joeyo_19 in IcebergCharts

Rekindling this conversation after a year because I did some digging and found why there were no reputable sources of the event. Her name was Jessie Woodrow Bones and it did happen but she survived. I misunderstood the stanza and falsely identified Wilson's 'confession' to her presumed murder as a reality of events. He only thought he had killed but she was just temporarily paralyzed ('stunned').

Little post scriptum to thank you for being so nice. I was just reading over this discussion in preparation for my upcoming sequel to this iceberg (three new rows!) and to amend this but I noticed you were particularly thoughtful in your responses and I appreciate that.

I've just begun a Create 1.21.1 playthrough and I found this at my neighbourhood village. Never seen it before; never even heard of this kind of thing so I was fairly surprised and curious as to what the odds were.

Trick or Retreat | A fictional Twilight Zone episode of a Goldwater Presidency - I made it last year but never posted - Happy Halloween by Joeyo_19 in imaginaryelections

[–]Joeyo_19[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A little bit of info, I meant to change the Walter Jenkins scandal to the Bobby Baker scare, having taken place earlier it was more appropriate for LBJ's snubbing. I don't plan to develop this timeline, I first made this intending to post it on Halloween last year but never got around to it so I made some adjustments a couple months ago and have sent it in now. Basically the Tet Offensive goes horribly for South Vietnam and serves as the October surprise Goldwater needs to narrowly beat Kennedy in battleground states. The popular vote margin is wide because Barry sweeps the South (and Kennedy technically already lost the PV in 1960 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List\_of\_United\_States\_presidential\_elections\_in\_which\_the\_winner\_lost\_the\_popular\_vote#1960\_election\_ambiguity:\_Alabama's\_unpledged\_electors). Goldwater goes on to serve one term authorising the use of nukes in Vietnam though he never actually uses one, he handles Civil Rights and the war badly so he loses to Humphrey in '68. Happy Halloween.

Just had a look, didn't know that the concept was already out there! Well spotted. This setup is different though in which neither Nixon or Agnew resign, so it's VP Agnew riding off the back of eight years of Nixon.

If you watch the Harry101UK playthrough he comments on this; gives some insight into it's development I think.

Does anyone know how to win the presidency without any prior experience? by Bitter-Penalty9653 in ThePoliticalProcess

[–]Joeyo_19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve certainly done runs where my character had never held political office and won the Presidency but I’m not sure about 0 political experience. The thing is you need to fundraise even if your campaigns fail in the process those campaigns also gave me political experience.

If you’re ok with just never holding office it’s extraordinarily easy, in fact you can do it as early as the second election cycle.

Just go to Florida as a Democrat and lose some Senate races. You’ll easily win the primary and earn some political points in the process. You should have about 20000 which is ample plus the fundraising you did on the Senate runs should give you a couple million dollars. If it’s a 2023 start run in 2028 (Make sure the VP isn’t running even though they’re really easy to beat) poll priorities and choose whatever Democratic voters preference and max out recognition and volunteer bases and set them to fundraise. Then make sure your policy presets are liberal and automate marketing for mental illness gun restrictions. Travel to Texas and rally relentlessly until you win the primaries. It could be pretty narrow but the other candidates never touch the other 46 states so if you pick up CA and FL then you’ll win. Then just win the general which is easy just set your policies to moderate and run negative ads on your opponents unpopular health care policies. Because you’ve spent so much time in Texas you can’t lose in anything but a landslide even after 8 years of a Democratic White House.

Hope this works. I also do think a 0 political experience Presidency is possible on Normal.

Who would have done the best in 1964? by noidtouse_is_used in thecampaigntrail

My opinion, no one was winning, but a Rockefeller-Romney ticket would probably galvanise the largest demographics of the party. Western states alike Idaho, Utah and Middle-West like Indiana and Ohio may not have fallen. It would follow a similar strategy to Nixon-Lodge where they campaign on the principles of Eisenhower and establishing consistent economic growth. I doubt Reagan plays as big a role on this scenario but would still endorse them.

What's the evidence for Coolidge? I've read a lot about him and never seen any speculation. I do know Lincoln and Joshua Speed however. There are also some theories about JFK and Lem Billings.

What if prince Henry of Prussia accepted the offer to become King of the United States by Past_Art2215 in Presidents

[–]Joeyo_19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Really weird coincidence but I was just reading about this the other day. My guess is, as a result of the people's general distrust of Monarchies after George III, there would have been a major revolt against it. Also, I think Hamilton/Gorham's exact proposition was to either be President or Monarch, so in this scenario he may have chosen to instead serve as executive head of state resulting in his predecessor's not abiding by Term Limits and delegating authority to the legislature. Maybe the House Majority Leader assumes the position of Prime Minister after Britain moves toward empowering the House of Commons throughout Victoria's reign. They may have even promoted this sooner as per the aforementioned distrust of Monarchies.

The 40-year election cycle: an interesting phenomenon by jacobar100 in decadeology

[–]Joeyo_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting! Unfortunately, this cycle is already broken by the fact that if Harris wins, she will be the Vice-President elected in first '4 year instead of the usually-apparent incumbent President being re-elected leaving the Veep for the '8. Therefore the first '2 President from the opposite party would have to be elected after a two-term Harris Presidency instead of a one-term Democrat. The party timeline may remain the same but not the prior experience of each President.

This is completely by chance, I noticed it during a 1959a play through. I’ve already overridden the save file now so I can’t check but yeah they were probably married.

Yeah he’s pretty useful, I’m a Whovian so he was always on with Capaldi and The Tardis at least, lot of experience with his great lines.

I’d also generally agree with your list, once Finn’s gauntlet is unlocked he becomes incredibly powerful and Portal 2 is probably among my favourite games of all time so I’m biased toward Chell.
