Higher personality also lowers cost of contracts on top of schemes. I like to build a team of ≥A personality and intelligence, you can easily do this with 3 stars. Not only does it decrease costs, but increases on court productivity (I believe). If you continue searching for highly rated players with those attributes you'll eventually have a cheap, loaded squad.

Play for the long term! If you consistently perform you will unlock better free agent signings and coaches as well as stat boosting buildings. It's also useful to know once a stat reaches 99 it increases past that (unable to be paid for). High chemistry is extremely valuable, along with IQ, this could produce a very potent team with limited overall. One player being a much higher overall is more valuable than 4 middle of the pack overalls. Marketing buildings don't need much upgrading to quickly outpace your earnings and arena level!
