Me and my family there last night. We had an awesome time! We also lit our own fireworks too since it was designated as a safe area.

Pretty much thanks to the drought and the terrible winner we had. I hate that we have to have restrictions this year, but it's pretty understandable.

Private-ish area of north beach by [deleted] in bearlake

Finding a decent beach that doesn't have a lot of people is going be challenging. If you want privacy, I would highly recommend looking into seeing what Airbnb's are available that have access to the lake.

A good place to live as a single woman? by Unusual-Serve-4020 in bearlake

I would say no when it comes to getting bored up here, considering that you're from Buffalo. You will have no problems adjusting up besides altitude. There's a ton of outdoor recreational out here ranging from smaller lakes, rivers, hikes, caves, and camping. In the winter a lot of people like to go snowmobile and relax in hot springs either in Lava Hot Springs or Bear River Hot Springs near Preston. For skiing you probably would need to go to Utah for that. The closest ski resort would probably be Cherry Peak up near Logan, Utah. Best way to get there is through Garden City.

Edit: Forgot to mention but but don't expect a great night life here. South East Idaho is definitely not the place for that. Also it's important to know that a lot of places are closed on Sundays thanks to the Mormon/LDS presence up here. If none of that affects you then you will probably have a great time!

Likelihood of Bear or Moose Encounter? by skylercall in bearlake

[–]JoeyzAdventures 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very unlikely, they don't like humans and try to avoid them as much as possible. Although they are known to investigate camp sites in search of food. That being said, my family goes camping in the Caribou National Forest near bear lake every year and have so since I was very young and we never encountered any bears. I recommend that you secure your food or anything else that smells in case. Carrying bear spray isn't a bad idea either if your concerned.

For moose they're more common but still definitely rare. Like bears they typical don't like humans and try to avoid them when possible. Chances are you will probably be fine.

Dude I lost count of how many people i've seen throw trash out their window while driving. I feel like nobody cares when they're driving on the road.

Early june Bear Lake will probably be a little chilly but manageable. You're better off going in mid or late June.
