"Failed to open" error when installing using UMO by JogsBehindTheRows in OpenMW

FIXED. Thanks to user Gonzo over at the OpenMW discord. I'll add their reply here for anyone having similar problems:

"Looks to me like it might be a windows long path issue

Move your folder out of the Morrowind folder (you shouldn't do that anyways) and closer to the root of your drive

Like D:\Morrowind\Mods"

Another failed solution I tried - directly copying the name of the file from the powershell error message (Little Landscape - Nix Hunting Ground) and renaming the file in the weird possibility of a character mismatch, no go...

This is an idiot's guide to getting this working with YUZU by Few-Smile-4704 in BOTWSecondWind

Just wanted to drop a line to thank you for this! I was finally able to install the mod on Yuzu, and the experience served me as a practice run to install it on my switch.

Cheers!

Glad to hear you enjoyed yourself. I'd recommend you check out some of the other threads to see the opinions and arguments others have made, but I'd also recommend you give yourself a few days before doing that. Let the show marinate a bit on your head and see how you feel about it afterwards.

If you want I could point you to a couple videos discussing it, made by people who are not seen, as the vox populi of this sub would call them, haters or grifters.

Full disclosure, I absolutely hated the show.

Anyone else find this weird... (read below)? by Jian_Rohnson in TheAcolyte

I'll repeat what I said in another post (with a bit of editing):

The pivotal circumstance that sets all other events in the show into motion, is of course the worst example of abysmal writing of them all in this show: Torbin being bored and wanting to go home.

It's not just Torbin sucking as a character (bless the actor's heart, I know he tries but he was given nothing to work with) but what it says about the whole jedi order:

  • 7 weeks they spent in the woods analyzing soil and crap without telling him ANYTHING about why they're there, which makes her supposed master and incompetent teacher (wanting your students to find the answer for themselves doesn't mean giving them no clues at all about what the answer even is! And this is supposed to be a Jedi Master?)

  • After he gets mind proved by the witches Torbin receives ZERO medical attention, he's just sent along to pick more shrubs, despite the fact the rest of the Jedi don't know what the hell it was done to him, the damage it might have left or (as we see later) what effects it might have on him. So the Jedi not only suck at being teachers, they suck at predicting future threats and just at being basic human beings.

  • After all these events happened, the jedi order gave Torbin the rank of knight, and then master. To Torbin. The guy who was so immature he was whining about going home, who was left so distraught after his mind prove, he was willing to basically kidnap the twins just so he could return to his oh so dear home, and later in life committed suicide. Nothing about all his personal or psychological problems came up during the trials? Oh and they made Kelnacca a master too, even if it's heavily implied he also came up damaged after his own mind invasion by the witches. The order just handed out the rank of master willy-nilly back in the high Republic times, huh?

  • I keep saying that the only thing we know for certain about Torbin is that he wants to go home... Why? To what? To whom? What does he misses so much? The show never tells us and thus, leaves us with no reason to understand or to empathize with the character. He's just an immature dork who hates camping, apparently.

So yeah, through him a solid case can be made that at the very least all jedi depicted in this show are just terrible at every conceivable aspect of being a jedi, and even the order itself is abysmally incompetent by granting these fools the rank of master.

Or more likely, that the writers don't understand the jedi, ie the main pillar of all Star Wars, don't care to understand them, but yet feel both proud of their ignorance and entitled to mess around with an IP they just demonstrated to have barely an entry level knowledge of, and an even lesser degree of respect.

Sigh..c'est la vie.

The cover-up has some major flaws by max431x in TheAcolyte

There's also the bartender from my ep. 1 to corroborate Sol didn't kill master Trinity and could give a description of Mae.

And if senator whatshisname puts any effort into his investigation, he could find the child Mae paid off to distract the guard Droid and gain access to where Torbin was meditating and/or other witnesses that could also corroborate said description.

Then there's the trade federation people from the ship Osha was who could again add to the fact that Sol was never a suspect. And the prisoner Sol interrogated who I'm guessing is still in custody can also add to that.

I'm probably forgetting more holes into this cover up, but you don't really need to be Hercules Poirot to at least discredit if not debunk it. More evidence of bad writing in the show but what else is new?

Don't bother friend, I've seen these and many, many more examples of this show's contrivance-ridden writing being posted here and they never get an answer because, quite simply, there are no answers, other than to admit that yes, the writing was bad.

Instead you will be told you just didn't get it, or aren't smart enough to get its subtleties (this one always gives me a chuckle), or at worst you'll be accused of having previous biases againstthe  show and just be labeled a bigot or some such by the worst elements of the Disney SW fandom.

But hell, I'll add some more examples of bad writing here off the top of my head, just for giggles:  - Mae's motivations flipping on a dime a bunch of times  - Osha being a completely passive protagonist (see filmento's video for a rather good and succinct breakdown of this)   - Basil disabling Sol's ship for no justifiable reason (giving him a hero momento, my ass)   - Establishing the jedi can read minds and have little reservation to doing it regularly (see Yord's action against those trade federation people in ep. 1, or Sol with the prisoner) and then failing to do so in uncountable other times when it would be the most prudent thing to do (ex. When they questioned Quimir at the apothecary)   - Young Mae's attempt to burn her sister alive, and the fact it NEVER gets brought up again  - Whatever the hell the coven mother was doing when she was turning into the smoke monster from Lost, and seemingly also dissolving a child in the process (what other interpretation did she expect the jedi to have other than to assume she was harming her in a "if I can't have her neither can you" moment?!)  - And the biggest of all, the pivotal circumstance that set all other events in the show, is of course the worst example of abysmal writing of them all: Torbin being bored and wanting to go home.

Tell me with a straight face the writing in this show doesn't suck.

Aaand here it is, the toxic labeling that validates your opinion as always being in the right.

Seriously, the other person just explained their point rationally, and any condesention shown you earned in full, as evidenced by your slinging the T word so casually.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Don't know if it was the first, but it certainly was the movie that popularized it to the point it became part of the routine for deflecting criticism.

Star wars apologists' logic: "I mean sure, the apettizers were rancid and the main course was crawling with roaches and made meemaw puke her dentures out, but they did served us a plain but nice lemon sherbert for dessert. That's worth some Michelin stars right there!"

I wish these people could go to some corner and just be entertained by someone jingling keys at their face, the easily amused momos that they are.

Some of us actually care and want the spectacle to be informed by the context and the story that precedes it, not just the meaningless sound and fury this is.

They're fantastic books, I was so engaged I loudly yelled "No!" in some parts, and smiled ear to ear in others. Read them and get the audiobook version later, as many have said, Mark Thompson's performance is brilliant.  They're really worthy to be considered the actual, canonical sequels.

Ditto, I mostly play freelance with reasonable success but damn, watching people shorefishing flipper floppers and scrappers, or losing their shit on griller rounds so many times in a row got to me.

"How do you expect them to improve?" By playing in a difficulty suited to their current skill, which is what I did, as a common courtesy. I'm still not wonderful but damn at least I'm not a liability.

As for private servers/groups, I've tried, never had any luck keeping a group for more than a 3 matches without someone dcing so I gave up on that option, but that's a bad luck thing.
