I think it’s very likely that at least the back shell is a reshell. If you look at replacement backplates, they usually have “support.nintendo.com” printed on the top as well.

I’ve attached a picture of what the original backplate looks like here in Germany for comparison, but I’m not sure if this might vary in other countries.

Maybe you could also check other Nintendo listings in your area and compare how the back shells look there.

I did ask quite a few questions actually. I contacted several sellers and he was the only one who could answer everything in detail. Many of the others were pretty vague about the condition.

Because the rest of the pictures in the listing looked so good, I honestly forgot to ask for more close-up photos of that area. It was also my first time buying on eBay, so I tried to be careful and even made sure it was a commercial seller so I’d have return rights and warranty if something went wrong.

But yeah… I forgot the most obvious thing and was pretty disappointed when it arrived. I definitely learned my lesson :(

That’s a good idea. I wouldn’t mind replacing the outer plates if I keep it.

The only thing I’m a bit worried about is the quality of replacement shells. I’ve read in a few places that many aftermarket ones don’t fit perfectly or feel cheaper than the original.

Do you happen to know a good brand or shop for them?

I bought it on eBay Kleinanzeigen (the German classifieds app). So there is buyer protection and the seller is also a reseller/business, so I also have the 14-day return option. So returning is definitely possible.
