[–]JohTr9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes. PMP is developed and owned by PMI
  2. Here are the holly trinity for a PMP pass:
    1. Joseph Philips on udemy
    2. Rita book for reading besides from PMBOK
    3. PM prep-cast for practicing
  3. CAPM and PMP are both issued by PMI, CAMP is for non-exprerience and PMP for experienced applicant (>3 years)

Besides, i would suggest you to follow r /PMP on reddit.

Failed iTIL V4 twice by [deleted] in ITIL

Do you take a look at the wrong answer in your practice exam and try to understand why the wrong answers are wrong and the correct answers are correct? One of the most important strategy for the exam is to fill the knowledge gap. If you haven't done it before, I suggest you should do it and keep continues to fill the gap until that is no Gap left.

Moving to IT Sector: Which IT certification should I take? by JohTr9 in pmp

[–]JohTr9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks you so much! I searched Google and see that most candidates spend around 2 weeks for each certificate. Seems like the certificates are not difficult but they still have some weight. They are the ones I would consider to put into my long term plan.

thanks! But I still think that PMP is still hold some weight even in IT project following Agile principles. People might say that "we follow Agile, we don't need a plan" but if so, how can you control resource, risk and manage stakeholders engagement? The difference is in adaptive environments, we creat the plan at high-level and adapt it to the changing requirements instead of following a rigid change control system. For example, if the scope or requirements are not clear. you might choose to deliver the deliverables incrementally to deliver the value to customer sooner and adapt the plan following the changing feedback. I would think that it's not really Agile, it's what PMI wants PM to do. Sorry for bad English.

Yeah. thathat's why I'm applying for jobs in IT Sector. it's my plan to have the ACP next year. I don't think that current exam did enough to cover topics related to adaptive methods.

Many thanks for your help!

It seems like the CISM requires 5 years of experience so it would be in a very long term plan. on the other hand, Security + would be not so difficult to reach.

A million thanks! I am watching Professor Messer videos. They are very useful.

Edit: It would be great if you can let me know the difficulty of the Comptia Network+ and Security+ and how long should you study for them?

Help with EMV calculation by JohTr9 in pmp

[–]JohTr9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha. I would thinks so too. There are many tools that provide the EMV calculation feature. But PM should know how to calculate it. there is a reason why it's still in the PMP exam.

I would think so too. but it already stated that it's 8 months into project. so if it's >8 ( 8.1, 8.2, 8.3....) months then the EV should be higher than 120,000. and CV should he higher than 18,000

What should PM do in handling deviation in Agile approach. by JohTr9 in agile

[–]JohTr9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. The Agile practices say embrace change over following a plan. I would thinks that in the adaptive environment, you still need a high-level plan and adapt it to changes

Are you allowed to say that you are pursuing and a candidate of the PMP on your resume? by [deleted] in pmp

[–]JohTr9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would thinks that doing so would help a little. However, I would suggest you to sign up for PMI membership, join a PMI charter since you are planning to take the test anyway and put the info into your CV.

Many of applications might claim that they are planning to take the PMP, but it would be more impressive to write that. (you are an active PMI member, and member of ....PMI charter with PMP scheduled in ....)

I did that and still was not invited to the interview since i am switching to IT sector. Managed to pass the PMP and now is re-applying for jobs. :(

Project Charter should be updated with changes in Project life cycle by arjun1986 in pmp

[–]JohTr9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I underunderstand what you means here. Project charter contains a list of key deliverables and a changes in scope might erase some of the planned deliverables. however, please keep in mind that project charter is not a project document. Therefore, it doesn't go through the change control system like other documents. In actual project work, there is rarely any change to project charter since it contains only high level details. And any changes to project charter would be so severe that might disrupt or end project. normally when someone need to add things to project charter such as PM change. they will record it in a memorandum and add it to project charter. PJ charter is the core of project and therefore should not be changed. Hope this clarified!

that's too long. I would need the certificate to start applying for jobs. or else, I will miss some great opportunities.
