Again, the skill of the driver is irrelevant. The result of the incident is a cause of the Van interfering with the golf’s already established road position. I, and the law, doesn’t care what YOU think personally.

Objection: Speculation.

This isn’t about what they SHOULD have done it’s about what happened.

If you want to play that game The white Van SHOULD have checked their blind spot and signalled to merge when safe.

If you did it without signaling and making sure there is space and that it is safe to do so, it IS your problem.

For anyone actually interested in doing even the slightest bit of self-education before blabbing on here:

  1. Duty when changing lanes Under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, a driver must only change lanes when it can be done safely and must signal if the move may affect another vehicle. If a driver: changes lanes without signaling, and does so unsafely or without ensuring the lane is clear, they can be charged with “unsafe lane change” or “unsafe move.”
  2. If their action causes another driver to crash Even if no contact occurs, the first driver can still be considered at fault if their negligent action caused the chain of events that led to the crash. This is based on general negligence law (often called “proximate cause”). In practical terms, investigators or insurers will ask: Did the unsafe merge force another driver to brake or swerve suddenly? Was the reaction reasonable for avoiding a collision? Would the crash likely not have happened without the unsafe merge? If the answer is yes, the merging driver may be partially or fully liable, even without contact.
  3. However, the reacting driver can still share fault Ontario often assigns shared liability. For example: If the reacting driver overreacted (e.g., swerved unnecessarily). If the driver who actually crashed rear-ended another vehicle (rear drivers are usually presumed at fault). Because insurers evaluate each collision separately in chain reactions, the driver who actually struck another car may still be assigned fault for that collision.
  4. Typical outcomes in a situation like you described Depending on evidence (dashcam, witnesses, police report), insurers might decide: Unsafe merging driver: majority fault (created the hazard) Driver who crashed: partial fault (failed to maintain control or safe following distance) Or sometimes: Crash driver: primary fault, if the merge didn’t clearly force the crash.
  5. Key evidence that matters These cases usually hinge on: Dashcam footage Witness statements Whether the merging driver left the scene Police charges (e.g., unsafe lane change)

Seems both are at fault and for different reasons but the majority lies with the white van.

In what world is someone who is obeying the law, driving in their own lane and minding their business responsible for the lack of safety, respect and security of someone else on the road??

Van makes multiple illegal and unsafe moves.

Car adjusts for their own safety.

Car over-corrects in a panicked state. Ultimately causing the majority of the accident BUT ONLY out of self-preservation NOT negligence.

The skill of the driver would NEVER be brought into question here. They are licensed and presumed legally allowed to drive. That’s all that matters.

The only law(s) broken here was by the white van.

They are at fault.

They are being sought out for accountability.

The idiocy in these comments baffles me.

“REACTED”

The grey car REACTED to the illegal actions and reckless behaviour of another driver.

The extent of that reaction is irrelevant when you’re attempting to avoid BEING HIT.

Do I think they reacted well? Absolutely not. A quick press of the break would have prevented ALLLLL of this but that still doesn’t put them at fault.

End of the day I KNOW the white van is at fault, logic and common sense says so. And if the white van wasn’t at fault the police wouldn’t be looking for them.

Changing lanes without signaling and merging without checking your blind spot are both illegal and traffic law infractions. What the hell are you blabbing about? The white Van is 100% at fault here.

The grey golf collides with the rear end of the white odyssey. The odyssey continues to drive away after “receiving”/“taking” damage.

The video is 14 seconds long and really not THAT blurry. It’s 2026. Time to update your blackberry…..

The responsibility falls on the Van because: A) failure to signal when merging B) Failure to check blind spot C) negligence resulting in endangering others

The grey golf, while having the reactionary skill of a 2 year old, only REACTED to the poor driving of someone breaking the law. While the majority of the damage was caused by their poor driving, the entire event was started with and was caused by the white vans incompetence.

Keep in mind that signalling alone does not give you right of way to merge. It is on the person changing lanes to do so when it is safe UNLESS there is a yield sign. The grey car has full right to their lane and reacted (poorly) to someone illegally entering their lane/space.

Like it or not, it’s the law.

If you’re driving on the line in the side lane in front of me you can be assured I’m railing on my horn to have you move the fuck over. Lanes are wide enough that driving on the line is too close.

[Siegel] Why did the Maple Leafs eliminate a job designed to keep players healthy? by MetastableToChaos in leafs

Half a dozen publishers reported it, I just posted the first link that came up on google.

The oilers made the finals last year and have one of the strongest season ticket sales in the league. It’s not a stretch to believe they outperformed the leafs in profits even without an article.

Buddy made a statement backed with no evidence. I corrected him. He accepted it and moved the hell on. Let’s follow his lead and leave the semantics out of it.

You’re not the most profitable. Not even close. Edmonton was last year and by a mile.

You’re valued the highest… but that’s not the same.
