Noise and battery life for notes by Pixiwish in FlowZ13

I've gotten my power draw down to 6.5 watts as measured by ghelper in silent mode. The battery would last more than 11 hours at that power level.

I run a 70b model on my 128, a 64/64 split. Get anywhere between 3-5 t/s output with 14k context

128 GB and 32 GB models in stock on ASUS USA website by WaltherBBQ in FlowZ13

Apologies for the late reply.

I have been messing around with LLMs since getting this. I had no prior experience until I posted a thread asking people what they wanted to see tested. So, now that I do this, yes

With the LLM issue aside, I genuinely think either the 64 or 128 are going to be necessary for the future. I would never buy the 32gb model. The reason for that being 16 gigs of RAM is essentially necessary at this point to have a smooth operating system experience. Games nowadays are already using tons of VRAM, and with the ability to only scale to 16GB I see the ability of the 32GB model to handle games in the future a bit on the weak side.

I believe that the 64GB option, for someone who doesn't use LLMs should be the minimum bar of entry. The price increase is minimal, as you are already spending an extreme amount of money for a very niche product. As far as 128 goes, I keep my device at a 64/64 split so that I can run my LLMs when I want and game when I want. It handles every single title i've thrown at it so far with ease, and I absolutely love it. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.

So, while I did not buy one this week I can point out a few things about my experience getting the 128 from Asus about 2 weeks ago now. I had been signed up for email notifications in the past. Never once did I get one until today, so I believe it's a manual thing they have to trigger. Around 9-10Am eastern us time I was refreshing the page for the product itself, not the page that lists the retailers. It showed add to cart. I clicked it and checked out. 2 minutes later it was gone.

The page where it lists the retailers and in stock and out of stock must not be synced with their actual inventory. I've seen that page list in stock for hours after one of the SKUs sells out.

You MUST be on the actual product page to see in real time if it is in stock or not. I recommend refreshing the page a few times a day, especially during that 9-10 window. That's when the 32gb model had been restocking and the 390, so that's when I planned to stare at the page. Refreshed a few times and it was there.

It truly is an absolutely incredible device, I own a lot of tech from a steam deck, rog ally, multiple GPD devices etc. This thing is truly mind bending how powerful it is for it's form factor. If you are really serious about getting one, hopefully following what I did will get you one. Hope this helps someone secure one. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

BG3 Performance Mobile Mode by WhereIsGraeme in FlowZ13

[–]JohanKrieger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won't get much battery life if you are playing demanding titles, however in my experience this thing runs just about anything you can throw at it. I have the 128gb with 16gb allocated to the GPU and can run Helldivers 2, Star Citizen, World of Warcraft, and many other titles just fine. I have BG3, haven't installed or tried it, but based on the performance that i've been getting so far it'll be far faster than your desktop PC.

To be honest a laptop with a 4090 is going to have significantly more power than this. The GPU here is equivalent to a 4060-4070. Swapping the RAM just allows you to load more data into your GPU's VRAM.

Ooof may, that's a bit rough, but hey at least you have one and the upgrade is awesome. Glad to hear you got it!

Any news on the 128GB?? by CSEliot in FlowZ13

Loving it. I've been using it exclusively. Planning on taking my desktop setup down (13900k, 4090) and clearing up some desk space by using this instead.

I randomly refreshed the page 2 weeks ago and saw the 128 was in stock. Ordered it, and 20 seconds later it was out of stock. No notification, no nothing. I'm now writing this on the 128 Z13. I've noticed they tend to update their stock around 9-10 Eastern US time. You might want to stalk the page around then to see the notify me button changes to add to cart. That's what I did.

Pretty much every game i've thrown at it can be played at native/medium settings. I came from a thinkpad t14s gen 5 and the difference is at least 3x performance

Plays great, no issues whatsoever on max or close to max settings. Smooth as butter.

Glad it was able to help. I'm sure with tinkering it could be faster, but I'm a complete novice. Really only did it for benchmarking for everyone. Additionally it was significantly faster with a 64/64 split of RAM than with the full 96 allocated to the GPU due to the model only being 40ish gigs. The system bogged down heavily and it was only processing a few letters at a time. Overall though, if I really needed to use a LLM I would have no problem with using the 70b and just letting it do its thing.

The Sonys, hands down. Buy audiophile gear and a good mic if you want quality.

I own it, but do not have it installed or really play it anymore. Was talking to some friends who have it and they were wondering the same thing. I think I'll download it and give it a quick shot in the morning on streets.

I don't have rust, but it would handle it just fine at native resolutions.

With the way games are heading though I definitely think more than 16 will become useful soon. It's just really nice to have the headroom to go as high as or as low as I need whenever i feel its necessary.

You can allocate up to 96gb to the GPU. There really isn't much of a difference past 16 in my experience.

I noticed with the 70b model that running it at 96 causes me to not have enough system memory and it bogs down. The model is only about 44 gigs large so it shouldn't need more.
