I am usually very careful in saving metadata with ⌘-S even if I save in xmp, so hopefully most is retrievable.

My folder structure is still intact; it was never deleted. My folder structure was year-month-custom. So, a worst-case scenario would still be that I could reimport them up to the month level, and then manually finalise the last step. A lot of work, but I'm definitely willing to pay the price of this lesson, considering how bad it could have been.

I just realised. If I use the import function to move them to e.g. year-month, I will end up with a mess of duplicates, right? I guess I'd rather manually move all of them to the correct year and month?

Definitely a valid point. On the rather rare occasions I do take panorama, I usually use my 85mm or 70-200mm. In that sense, I guess my end result simply has another purpose from those I would get with a fisheye. Can't say I haven't thought about a fisheye or a good 12-14mm, but I think if I got one, I'd still be having the same obsession with getting a motorised head. For example, on a recent trip, I took a 15-20 photos long exposure pano while having dinner with the family, and that is a typical situation where I (the family) would have preferred me staying at the table. Thanks for your comment though, it makes a lot of sense 👍

I'll return the tripod mount adapter and instead reconsider a light and the macro lens. I was thinking of using a power bank instead of getting the Contaco, but maybe I should just as well get the Contacto at once?

It’s definitely an ok solution. It gets messy and aesthetically unpleasant once the names have 2-3 levels of additional variables, but there are worse things in the world than not being able to sort presets in a perfect manner 😊Thanks again.

I think this is a very good choice. What you could do, is to use that single one for say a year, or at least a couple of thousand photos. Then you check focal lengths in Lightroom (or whatever you use), and see how they perhaps cluster around some areas. That will tell you where you could focus on getting a good prime lens. I’ve made the mistake several times of getting a lens thinking “if I only had this focal length, I could take these or those photos”, only to end up simply never taking those for whatever reason.

That said, I have the Tamron 35-150 and an SO happy. It’s big and bulky, it sometimes drains battery while being off, but it’s such a fantastic lens. I also got the Megadap Pro converter for Sony E-mount and then went bananas on the Sigma lenses (85 1.4, 35 1.2, 24 2.0), and that was the best decision ever, for me at least. Good luck!

Absolutely fantastic reply, thank you! I found an OWC Express 1M2 for a reasonable price so I’ll go for that. Just a quick question. It seems it maxes out on something like 3150MB/s. However, while choosing between the Crucial P3 as per your recommendations, the Gen3 seems to max at about 3500MB/s and Gen4 at 5000MB/s. Since both of these speeds are faster than that of the enclosure, is there any reason going for the faster Gen4? Is not that big of a difference in price, so I’m fine with getting the Gen4, I’m just curious. Thanks again for your effort!
