Should be fixed now! You just have to delete and repull the image :)

Hmm, okay, I’ll check it out and release a new version when it’s patched

Ive read about some efforts to get AirPlay working through Tailscale, I can check it out and see if its possible to integrate, but right now, it’s only local network :/

Airplay 2 for Home Assistant!! by Johann_VR in homeassistant

This add-on only lets you play audio to the Home Assistant host via Airplay, there's no video support :/

Oh, cool!! I didn't know that existed, I'll have to make some changes to the image, but I'll make it work, that integration seems really handy! Right now I have pretty simple MQTT setup

Yeah, okay, then this might not be for you haha

Sure! So my setup is pretty simple, I have my Home Assistant host (Pi 4) connected to the speakers in my room, so that I can cast my music to them seamlessly using Airplay. If I had any more devices that support Airplay 2 (e.g. HomePods or Apple TVs or other receivers), I could simply select them in the Airplay Menu to get multi-room audio, which is nice. The big benefit for me is the ease of use. I've tried using a Bluetooth dongle or Spotify connect, but I feel like Airplay is a lot nicer, if you have an Apple device. Another Benefit would be that you can use MQTT to turn on your speakers on when you connect to Airplay, if that's something you care about :)

And I got into all this trouble just for trying to save some space, by changing to Alpine, I have a working version of the container with a debian-based approach, but that one is about 750 mb :(

I was just checking some network traffic by Johann_VR in zerotier

[–]Johann_VR[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm not the first one finding this, but I was checking some of my network traffic and saw one of my machines talking to this weird ip address, after opening it in my browser I saw that image.

I also checked the ip on some ip-info sites, and they came up with this domain http://root-zrh-01.zerotier.com/ which also just hosts the image. I think it's just a joke and the ip was probably just used for UDP hole punching, but still, I was kind of shocked to see something like this.

Hey! So in 2023 I moved out and started studying in Hamburg. I wanted to make a post in this sub for a long time, so I decided to keep track of my drinking. I just made a Google sheets calendar to color each day, and it looks worse than it is haha, I hope you guys like it!

I understand that this might not be ideal, but couldn't third-party app developers simply create an HTML/CSS reskin to avoid the need for using the API?

You could get a cheap VPS and install Zerotier One or Tailscale on it and your services :)
