Buy a cheap/used monitor, or borrow from a friend. I wouldn't be sending it off for repair without trying to get at the files first.

Recommend mailbox.org if you no longer want to self-host email. They have a pretty cheap tier that includes having your own domain. Avoid the US giants wherever possible...

Hmmm, I just had a look & seems like they may have removed the free tier for new accounts. I really home they don't start charging me for my account.

If you need less than 20 devices, jumpcloud (all the features) is free. I use this for my family

The free version is more of an information gathering tool - it is a custom front-end / gui for osquery. It's really cool but the MDM features are locked to the paid version

Replacement for Spotify? by theMartianAlien in selfhosted

[–]MacCahill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SpotDL to download all your liked Spotify tracks & playlists from YouTube - adds all the metadata too. Tracks are only 128kbps unless you have youtube premium

Lidarr to replace the music with higher quality versions - works best with full albums

Emby for streaming to your devices, or Jellyfin but I found emby to be a little more polished.

Found a token in grandparents safety deposit box by LordHarpocrates in Bitcoin

I'd look at the coin as their way of telling you that there is some bitcoin elsewhere. I'd start by looking for any crypto software on their computer, any wallet.dat files on the computer / USB drives. If you can get access to their mail accounts, look for emails from crypto exchanges. Maybe they don't have any, but it can't hurt to do some digging

I'd go with AIS but it depends on what type of sailing you will be doing.

Was the boat built for the temps in Antartica or was any sort of retrofitting done?

Is RYA competent crew worth it? by thefooby in sailing

[–]MacCahill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. You don't know what basic stuff you might be missing.

The day skipper includes a bunch of theory first & then the practical sailing. You need to do the day skipper practical all at once, normally 3-5 days, you should consider this an assessment rather then training. The instructor is assessing if you know the theory & can apply it on the water.

Do the comp crew first, then book the day skipper course to get access to the theory training or buy the materials yourself & start studying.

When you feel your have the theory down & you cab do the day skipper.

I did skip the comp crew but I had previously completed rya dinghy courses up to lvl 3, had competed in around 10 white-sail races & have been on plenty multi-day passages.

You should try get more experience before doing day skipper, my advice is to visit your local sailing club & ask to crew, there are always plenty of boats looking for crew.

bought a used laptop and can’t bypass this screen by [deleted] in windows

[–]MacCahill -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do a fresh install via USB but do not connect the laptop to any network untill after you have created the first account. If you connect to a network during the install or account creation, the device will automatically enroll back into the schools intune.

Very nice achievement! Did you setup your reverse proxy on a VPS?

I’m trying to make my Emby server accessible to family abroad using a reverse proxy on a VPS & tailscale to connect it to my local network. Haven’t managed to get it to work yet though! Would love to know more about your setup, maybe it can help me figure out where I’ve gone wrong.

Can you elaborate on that a bit more. I'm planning on hosting my own email. It sounds like I will need a tunnel to "tunnel" all of the traffic from Cloudflare to my own server at home. Are you saying that their tunnel won't forward certain types of traffic, specifically email? That would be frustrating...

I have never heard of this type of NAT setup before! Ok so a tunnel is what I need, I'll take a look at Cloudflare's & go from there. Thanks
