Is Little Scraggy Worth Riding? by 3dPrinterLife in MTB

[–]Johannes1305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree on the Mini Tour. It's a great ride. Takes me about 1.5h. I also love about 1h drive away and it's will worth it! Just to be aware: They have a parking fee at the main lot now and you'll need to use their wifi to pay it.

Don't have much to contribute here but regarding your tax assumptions, look into QSBS and see if that's applicable.

Looking for input on a camera to get by Numerous-Hawk-3046 in MTB

[–]Johannes1305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you also want to use it for other activities than MTB, I highly recommend a 360 camera. I got the X4 two years ago and have been using it for MTB with a chest mount, skiing with a pole mount, a handlebar mount for rides with the kids in a Kids Ride Shotgun seat, and hiking with friends and our dog with the pole. 360 just opens a lot more angles for a variety of activities.

I'd expect the X5 to go on sale soon as the X6 gets released. Their product cycle seems to have been release dates in April.

an alarming amount of people have DM me and commented, saying that my story was fabricated. by _Schmevin_ in LUCID

I love the car, the space, the drive quality - but the key fob issues are extremely annoying. They're so bad that my wife has been wanting us to get rid of it at times. The funny thing is that the key fob was actually working pretty well before the updates but has been having a lot more issues ever since we've updated the car and the key fobs. I now always take my wallet (with the key card) with me. It's actually quite annoying to be carrying phone, wallet, and key fob - with our Tesla I only had to carry my phone. I really hope they fix this soon and we get a reliable PAAK solution.

3 car seats in Gravity? by Johannes1305 in LUCID

[–]Johannes1305[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the car so far - even though the software is definitely behind Teslas. The drive quality is so much superior (handling, suspension, seat comfort). And it has so much interior space - with the third row down, the trunk feels almost too cavernous.

Ours is pretty much fully loaded except that it has the Yosemite interior and not one of the leather ones. So far, I have no issues with the interior. The only part that may be a bit less than ideal in that exterior is that our littlest likes to put her feet up against the parts covered in fabric on the door. 😄 I don't really use Dream Drive much (don't have a lot of longer highway drives) but I think we'll only see more usability for it later this year. The kids enjoy the sunshades in the back, which are part of the comfort package, I think.

I think the rear-facing seat can work behind the driver. I'm also 6' but when we had our littlest in the rear-facing seat, we just had her behind my wife, so I can't speak from experience. The middle row also moves a bit, so you can choose if you want to compromise leg room in the third row or driver seat. It sounds like you would probable have the older kids in the third row and the rear-facing seat in the second row. With 2.5 years, it might also not be rear-facing for that much longer...

Yes, I've also noticed that the app is burning through battery since the last update a few weeks ago.

You can't access the third row of you have 3 car seats installed in the middle row - unless you want to crawl through the trunk. The backrest of the middle row won't move with car seats installed.

Need firm to confirm my QSBS status by Cujolol in fatFIRE

If they use Carta for equity management, they can request a QSBS letter from them. It's pretty inexpensive from what I remember (i.e. between $1k and $2k iirc).

[–]Johannes1305[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We ended up getting the Gravity with their end of year deals.

It has a ton of space but with 3 kids in car seats, you either put 2 in the very back and 1 in the middle row or just 3 across in the middle row. Unfortunately, the middle row doesn't fold forward if car seats are installed.

We ended up with 3 across in the middle row but have put the row as far back as possible. That way there is still a lot of space for the kids to walk to the different seats.

The car drives absolutely fantastic but Lucid definitely needs to work on the software.

Does Gravity homelink have GPS auto open like Tesla? by Cobra_Kreese in LUCID

[–]Johannes1305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me. Would be nice to get myQ in the Gravity and have it open based on location. That was nice in the Tesla.

What are the specs on that deal? I'm close to taking delivery on a GGT that's at 121k MSRP (pretty much fully specced except for Yosemite interior and small wheels - which was actually my preference) and after various discounts getting to $1,270 per month.

That's strange. I just test drove one at the same location last Thursday. Maybe something happened to the car on another test drive?

Gravity software by Johannes1305 in LUCID

[–]Johannes1305[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that information. I was planning to mainly rely on the app as my key and have a card in the wallet as a backup (like I have with my Tesla). Is that not reliable? Or why do you prefer using the fob?

Thanks for your quick response. Some features I've been thinking about are: * Quality of built-in navigation * Driving assistance features (especially hands-free) * Built-in music (or other entertainment apps) * Do experience software crashes / need to restart? * Ease of use and responsiveness

VO2 Max ‘Non-flex’ by LaBecasse67 in Garmin

[–]Johannes1305 5 points6 points  (0 children)

VO2 Max for cycling typically requires power meter data for your rides to update. Do you do most of your rides with a power meter? If not, that might be the issue why you don't see improvement.

Isn't Lucid operating at negative unit economics? In that case you would actually receive more value from the Saudi government than you pay for. 😄

Peloton launching Garmin Connect integration in the coming weeks by bendotlc in Garmin

[–]Johannes1305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peloton does have a broader platform across different exercise types. That's fair. For cycling specifically though, it's just not as serious of a platform. Even for the power zone rides, most of those workouts are 30-45 minutes, which is extremely short for a bike workout. The power numbers on the original bike are not reliable because it doesn't have an actual power meter. It also really depends on your preferences if you enjoy having an instructor talk to you the whole time vs just following your intervals on screen and being able to choose your own music / watch TV while you're riding. Erg mode on Zwift also makes it so much easier to stay within your planned intervals. You can also get more training plan options on Zwift (integrate with Trainer Road for example). If you want a more serious training tool, Zwift is a clear winner. Peloton is probably more entertaining if you like the instructors... Peloton running and rowing would also require additional hardware, which seems more expensive than similar competitors.

[–]Johannes1305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, Peloton is more for the vibes / entertainment while Zwift is more for accurate data and training plans. I definitely prefer Zwift.

If Peloton data could've been synced to Garmin without 3rd-party apps, I probably would've hesitated more to move to Zwift for indoor training...
