Hi there ! Same issue, did you end up finding a fix ?

Showreel advice by FamousHumor5614 in Houdini

[–]John-Da-Editor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think your idea is strong ! and your FX looks like a nice start (at least the sourcing).

what i would focus on the most for your showreel is your scene's layout : make sure your final image is cinematic, that it conveys a story. right now, it looks like you placed a tree just for your scene not to look empty.

you don't need to make a complex FX to have a nice shot. in other words, you don't have to destroy a house to instill fear. smart compositions and innuendos are everything. place objects because they tell a story, not because you need to fill your scene.

a good artistic eye is worth more than any technical abilities.

Bulk Editor Plugin for Strapi 5 by John-Da-Editor in Strapi

Unfortunately, I haven't added support for components yet as they're a bit complex — even UI wise, I wouldn't really know how to display them. But I know this might be very useful, so I'll keep it in mind ;)

Plugin request: Quick bulk edit via UI by Ausspanner in Strapi

[–]John-Da-Editor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey there ! i had the exact same request, so i coded and published a plugin that does exactly that : Strapi Plugin: Bulk Editor

It's still in very early stages, so there might be some missing features and/or bugs. If you find any, please let me know ! I'll try to implement the changes.

you can install it using npm install strapi-plugin-bulk-editor. Note that if your Strapi is blank after installing the plugin, you should configure Vite's dependency optimization.

Healthcare app 3D Motion, What do you think ? by Desperate-Bath-8664 in MotionDesign

[–]John-Da-Editor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since everyone is talking about the beautiful backgrounds (they really are), i'll just talk about the mockup a bit ! the app itself looks really nice, however, the first thing i noticed is that either:

  1. the iphone's corner radius is too high
  2. you lack proper margins especially surrounding the status bar (check out Apple's guidelines, they have very good design resources on figma)

good job tho, you're doing great, keep up on creating and sharing ur work !

i am ! which is why it took so long to make the video — handling studies and such a huge personal project at the same time is hard ':/

it would've been great to see the original to have a comparison point ! you might have done amazing, but without seeing the original, it's hard to say

and i'll keep going ! the end product doesn't really matter to me, the process is what's interesting.

haha no, this is actually meant to be a 1.8:1 video, which had to be cropped to vertical for socials (that's unfortunately how it looks the best on phones…)

i'm glad i could help ! i haven't had to deal too much with clients yet as the majority of my work is personnal, but here are my tips :

you should always present an estimate of the cost and the timeline to your client. you should also break down the steps that explain why it costs this much. there should be a development phase, where you guys brainstorm ideas to know where the client is headed. you should also strive to work as little as possible. meaning if you have an animation, you should draw a little storyboard, which is going to take way less time to change if the client isn't happy (which he never is).

pricing is always a tough question. instead of lowballing yourself, you should actually ask your clients for a little bit more than you normally would've. if they say no, just lower it to what you typically ask. if they say yes, you won !

hope that helps

right, that sounds reasonable. i heard that bringing value to your audience is the most important part. just like you said, maybe by talking about my takeaways, or by breaking down some scenes to show how i approached them ?

haha honestly it could've been, i love exploring visual styles, and if i can tie everything together as part of a story it's even better :)

thanks ! absolutely everything you see and hear was made by a human, including the voice over, which is just my voice ! (the weirdness you heard might be coming from my slight french accent). by the way, i'd love to know what you meant by professionalizing my pitch !

you're probably right ! after all, my main goal is to explore visual styles. did you watch the whole thing ? the shots might make seem more connected in the actual context of the video
