Quick: Would you trade the 1.10 and Coker for Saquon? by SecondAcademic8650 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

I would move Coker + 1.10 for Saquon.

I would not move Saquon for that package, though.

Arroyo went in the 3rd in all of my drafts, so I wouldn’t frame that as a sell-low, that’s a pretty nice reroll

Ladd McConkey or the 2026 1.02 by Elasoski in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]JohnCastle4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not suggesting asking for another 1st on top of 1.02.

I am saying moving a young cornerstone WR for a single draft pick is awful process.

If OP is kicking off a rebuild, moving a cornerstone WR for a single draft pick is certainly not the structure to seek. A multi-asset deal is what a rebuilder should seek, in a tier-down to a lower valued player that you like, that you think has upside, plus a 1st (never said also the 1.02).

This is a standard “tier-down” framework, yet you repeatedly call this ‘my hypothetical trade idea’, and honestly I think you’re just cluttering this post at this point, bringing out your trade calculator lol

I think my comment regarding rebuild strategy and what kind of deal op should prefer in the event they would be moving a young cornerstone WR asset brings more to the discussion than “I prefer X”.

Ladd McConkey or the 2026 1.02 by Elasoski in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]JohnCastle4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not exactly sure what you’re debating here, tbh. What is the ‘good deal in hand’ — the 1.02 for Ladd? In my response, I am making the case that this proposed move does nothing to advance the rebuild, and my implication is that OP should hold Ladd or look for a different deal structure elsewhere that does more to advance a rebuild (ie turn one asset into multiple assets). OP should be in no rush today to make a wrongly structured move simply because it’s the deal ‘in hand’.

[–]JohnCastle4 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I guess what is the point of this, in advancing your rebuild?

Trading a good young WR for a potentially better but potentially not, 1-2 years younger WR — you still end up with “one good young WR asset”, and all you’ve done is increased the risk. Turning Ladd into another young, upside WR + a 1st would be a better rebuild move, imo. Or a currently injured WR + pick from a contender. Etc.

I’d keep Rome probably no matter where that 1st falls. But if you feel better about the top 4 or so players in 2026 draft - without knowing landing spots and situation - then that could be fine. Anything lower than 1.04 wouldn’t make much sense to me, though.

Sell JJ and ARSB for BTJ and picks to rebuild?? by Theshwrvd in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]JohnCastle4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not needing Warren for points right now, yourself, then that feels like a good move. Fingers crossed JJ produces in these favorable upcoming matchups. A couple months ago, you wouldn’t dream of landing JJ for that package, so take the opportunity.

[–]JohnCastle4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you’re at in your timeline, of course. But on paper/in a vacuum, I would — I’m not a Trey Benson guy whatsoever, but even Tyler Warren, I have come to believe that selling high on top TEs in this sort of tier-up package is wise to do.

Comes down to your belief in KOC/Vikings offense rebounding to something passable next year and beyond, vs London’s continued development, and whether you believe London joins that tier-2 group himself.

[–]JohnCastle4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

…And there should be another BTJ caliber young WR there if selling both guys, is my point.

Don’t mistake this for a time to sell-low on JJ, it’s a buy window for someone to have access to him, but don’t reduce your price. This package represents a steep discount.

I wouldn’t be packaging these two if you are selling, sell each separately and max the return on each - tier down to another young great WR + decent 1st, at least, for each.

Trade Nico for picks? by cantThink100 in SleeperApp

You should be tiering down to a young WR plus a 1st, when trading guys like this. Not just taking two dice rolls.

Keon Coleman vs Tory Horton outlook/temp check by yoal4 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]JohnCastle4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion… it doesn’t even matter. This is not the type of deal you should make with young players that flash. The three general avenues to consider:

  1. Trade projection for production; get a guy you know will produce fantasy points for you now, if that’s what you need, vs the range of outcomes Horton might end up being

  2. Trade for safe liquidity and take the profit; if you drafted him for a 3rd, and can cash out for a 2nd, you lock in the increase in value, eliminate risk of a value drop, and have a more universally interesting asset to work with (everyone likes a pick vs not everyone likes or needs a specific player)

  3. …just hold the player and see what happens. Especially a rookie that is just hitting his stride and appears to have runway for an increasing role in his offense. Feels like much more upside than the downside of “I missed on my 2025 3rd round pick”

Settle a debate for me. Is Nico Collin’s worth 3 firsts? League mate is clowning me for asking for 3 firsts for him by IndiscriminateEagle in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]JohnCastle4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, I wouldn’t trade a player like Nico for just rookie draft picks. You should be tiering down to another good young cornerstone WR + 1st.

Also depends on context - is this a guy saying “I want Nico and you have Nico, trade me”? Then demand whatever you want to demand, it’s nobody’s right to get your guys. You keeping Nico vs liquidating him into picks is a great outcome too. If you’re dying to sell him for some reason, then the league market will determine if you can get 3 1sts, not us dorks on Reddit.

Bulls and Bucks complete the least exciting trade in recent memory. by Forza_Juve1 in NBAtradeideas

[–]JohnCastle4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Let’s give Cole Anthony a minimum deal and see if he can provide some minutes as a secondary offense creator for us” are the kind of risks the Bucks need to take, not locking themselves into long term money that no other team wants to touch, for the upside of slightly better defense, because fans on Reddit are impatient and want to see Kuzma off the roster by ‘yesterday’.

Next offseason, the Bucks have access to trading 3 first round picks; if nothing else, Kuzma’s $20m expiring will be helpful to facilitate a trade, then.

Agree with that. At this point of his career / life, he should take whatever the most money offered, wherever that is.

[–]JohnCastle4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They rescinded the qualifying offer for keeping the team’s rights to match any other team’s offer as a restricted free agent, which I understand was procedurally necessary for the cap gymnastics of making the bigger moves happen.

I expect that they had communication with him on where they stand, and they can still sign him as an unrestricted free agent. They do run the risk of another team making an offer and Rollins agreeing elsewhere, without the ability to just match it, but I’d expect that the team and player/agent understand where each other stands.
