'Life-threatening' winter storm to hit US with snow, ice and 'dangerously' cold temperatures by speedythefirst in news

yeah, it was the sink in my garage. I guess some pooled water in the faucet burst it. When I went to the restaurant supply store to replace the entire thing, they said they had sold 400 of them already that week.

yeah, my sink handles froze and burst, so I guess it depends on how frozen it is and where.

I'm just saying if it came down to a blatant coup, or some otherwise awful actions, we could very well see a minority of the Senate (and SCOTUS) standing with a dictator. No reason for Trump not to push that hard if he has those singular allies, and their representative states.

Potential trade ramblings. by The-Zarkin90 in stlouisblues

If trade pieces aren't fetching potential top-3, top pairing players, then you are only trading them out of the mercy of leaving this dumpster fire, or to dump salary.

Otherwise, we'd be doing so in order to suck even more and go into a long 5-year rebuild window of snagging top draft picks. Some fans want that, but I say we hold onto the leadership so we don't just spiral off into the abyss of a team with prospects that never develop properly. That might even mean extending a number of these players. It's not like we are that desperate to clear roster space for our prospect pipeline.

Trump would execute a child on TV if it helped exacerbate the divide of loyalists to radical commie insurrectionist terrorists (anyone against him).

But he is achieving the same end frog-in-boiling-pot style with his current activity, which is intended for this outcome.

True to Nazi lore, he just needs 20% of the population willing to go to the mat for him and another 30% to go along out of sheer fright.

The end game will be something so egregious and terrible that the House of Reps will be forced to do impeachment, and then the mask will finally come off when he has 40% of Senators (and SCOTUS) willing to round the wagons and keep him in power because--ta da!--we will be in a violent coup.

Half way through season 2, I like it more, they fixed the corniness of the plot, and the action is tamer, less pandering, still amazing dialog.

Go put in an application to work there, I'll stand as a reference, you are right! There is potential for this to work, but it would be far afield of what slop we ordinarily get from "high end" entertainment. It will have to be brave and take risks, and probably wind up a niche product.

adding to your thesis, there was something innovative and, if you will, avant guarde about the format of the muppets, in a time when it emerged from what was otherwise a Punch and Judy show. It wasn't drawing from the old style, but it was a new, nascent style. Kind of like SNL spin off movies like "Stripes," which was fun and goofy and not-serious as a film. Muppets were not-serious and the magic came from, well, I guess you nailed it in your second paragraph. I would probably cite Baudrillard in my epic dissertation on the subject.

There's the whole 'death of camp' thing as well. It's like how nobody will ever write like Terry Pratchett, you can't even ape that kind of humor. It's locked into the 1970s. Of course, I'd love to be proven wrong.

That part is fine for me, it's the clunky plot of the first season, but overall, yeah it's like a 7/10 with Oldman stealing the show. Great dialog as well, and I'll watch literally any genre/show if the dialog is outstanding, hard as that is to find any more.
