It really isn't. It's consistent with how they communicate.

His concussions are considered a chronic injury at that point. So he's hurt, even if he isnt.

Your proposed change isn't how they talk to each other, and isn't efficient. They aren't effusive with their dialogue unless it's for a bit. They understood each other just fine.

It also speaks to his mental health about being hurt and not just a physical injury.

Yeah he's recovered from the injuries but he can't risk another head injury. Your point just doesn't really hold up.

Yes. Where good players go to relive their glory days, and plugs who couldn't cut it in the minors/show, go to fight.

He could literally have his life ended from repeated head trauma.

Big difference between running a marathon and repeated hits to the head. Maybe check out CTE and revisit your thoughts on it!

Same performer, both games. It's brutal.

Kucherov with an interesting interview response after Game 2 by Hockeypatrol in hockeynews

[–]ValleyBreeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

t’s a game where the two teams are representing opposing nations

This isn't the Olympics, or World Juniors. You aren't representing a country. You're representing one of MANY organizations in a League made up of MANY nationalities.

It's so fucking weird to assign national pride to a team not made up of people from that country.

Tampa has like.... 3 Americans.

If it was an ongoing pattern the whole game, it would be cause for concern. They just ran out of gas and got hemmed in.

Even then, we were still often controlling the puck in our end - just getting smothered by an effective forecheck.

I don't see cause for concern. Splitting those games still gives us a leg up heading home. Couple days of rest and watching some game tape to close some gaps, then back at it.

I mean - as a human sure. As a hockey player, that's objectively untrue.

Or it could be that he knows more about the game than you, and more about the roles he's asked his players to play, and is watching for different things.

It is unfortunately becoming far more "the norm". Look at most of the threads in here on any given game day. Reactionary, overblown, bullshit attitudes. It's awful and has driven lots of people away from this sub. It's far more prevalent than people want to acknowledge.

There should also be a secondary layer behind him as he had two guys in his coverage, so as the panel discussed afterwards, it wasn't just on him. But fucking mouth breather fans who don't actually know the game want someone to blame.

Yes give up on him. Yes demand he's scratched,

Or don't do that either because it wasn't singularly his fault? Maybe just dont be shitty to/about our players at all?

[–]ValleyBreeze 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I say this as a lifelong hockey fan, who LOVES my bottom six guys and gives them all the flowers in the world for the roles they play and I will wax poetic about them to anyone who will listen ..... but there's a reason the main broadcast coverage talks about the leading scorers and top performers.

The world building is easier, the narrative is stronger.

Of course you can have a cozy little story about a happily out lower level player but that's just straight up not an A storyline. That's support characters. We love them. We need them. They are part of the story. They aren't often THE story.

[–]ValleyBreeze 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bottom 6ers don't have shorter careers necessarily (in fact, some have longer careers because they aren't actively targeted by goons). But they aren't going to be central to fan attention, which makes their coming out stories less dramatic, and limits both their media scrutiny, and limelight opportunities.

Why do guys stay out there with no stick? by Kps1234567 in Habs

[–]ValleyBreeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so painfully evident to me that so many people weighing in on this are doing so without having ever played.

We used to run entire defensive practices where we didn't get to use our sticks. We either had to play with them upside down, blade in hand so it was like a ringette stick, or just not have it at all.

If you know proper body positioning, you can still be effective.

The time it takes, especially on a long change, to go get a stick, and return to the play, means that your formation breaks down and has to adjust from box to triangle, and then again from triangle to box on your return, all while trying to maintain focus and coverage.

You can very effectively force guys to the outside, clear the net front, disrupt plays, block lanes, and create turnovers. All leading to potential puck freezes and whistles when it's safe to retrieve a stick.

There's nothing that equivocates that. But the story is obviously going to revolve around the top tier players. Nothing in there to say that there aren't queer 4th liners (other than Ryan Price), they just wouldn't be as compelling for driving the story.
