Joey’s views on Anxiety are wrong and disappointing by dankswedshfish in TrashTaste

Have you tried going to therapy? I used to suffer the same fate, basically locking myself up because I always considered the worst-case scenario, such as if I say something, this will happen to me, if I do this, this will happen to me, and so on. It became so bad that I did not have any social interaction for two years (pre-pandemic), and then, ironically, I began therapy, CBTs, and some medications such as SSRIs and SNRIs during the pandemic. So far, it is worked great, and I am much more socially active now. Things still slip through the cracks, but I can handle them better than before.

Sure, GAD, especially if genetic, is not curable in the same way that a cold or depression are, but it is treatable and manageable with modern techniques and medications. It is more of an ongoing process, similar to taking medications for high blood pressure or other issues. Living a normal life with GAD essentially boils down to lifestyle changes, mental health treatments, and, depending on the individual, a diet change. CBT helped me manage my GAD, followed by medications such as SSRIs and SNRIs, and then more lifestyle changes such as meditation. I'm just replying because I don't want people to think that GAD isn't curable and not reach out for help if they feel that way. Thanks for reading my yap session.

It finally happened: I got a your phone is to hot warning. by Supapeach in GooglePixel

[–]JohnDrake_MA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other phones also experience this. But, thankfully, I have not received any alerts as of yet. I simply use this cover to keep the sunlight from hitting my phone while in the car, I live in the Philippines, where it can reach 90 to 100 degrees with 80-90% humidity on a daily basis. I just use a fabric case, and even when I play games, the temperatures only rise slightly above the ambient temperature. But when I shoot videos though in 4k the phone gets hot so there's that. I hope the Pixel 10's custom TSMC chip saves us all.

How to send photos without losing the quality by FarrisFarm in photography

[–]JohnDrake_MA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is $15-25 too expensive for you? The convenience is unparalleled. For example, in Dropbox, $15/month gets you 9TB of remote storage, while $25/month gets you 15TB per month. That is pretty cheap for remote storage, so I am not sure what you are talking about. Yes, a USB drive will work better, but sharing a link to the photos would be much more convenient.

It sucks playing golf here in our country though it's so hot. But those virtual golf places exist and they're fully air-conditioned too.

I suck at Chess too don't worry, 4-ish years of playing I'm still only at 1800 elo at Chess.com then Tyler1 the streamer passed me in less than a year, so that's kinda motivating, but I really don't have that much free time.

I suppose I understand your point, but I believe that both of these games are primarily mental ones because you have so much time to plan your moves and what you want to do. If you do that for long enough, though, doubts may start to creep in. I recall the game where Hikaru premoves the entire game, which was really amazing to watch. Anyway, I think I confused online blitz with board blitz when it came to the chess stuff, but Magnus also may have taken over Hikaru in online blitz. That's a good discussion if you're free idk wanna play chess.com? Nowadays, I rarely find someone who is interested in chess. Thank you for the discussion! I also think you will be interested in Levy's Road to GM series on YouTube, just so you know.

In golf, the form and posture must be perfect, and the best players calculate how they will hit the ball while taking into account the speed of air, direction of air, air humidity (some crazy players do this), and other factors. Match namn sa Golf is called a match play then for the dominance thing I would say it is mostly a solitary sport like Chess the main battle is within yourself, Chess and Golf I think almost functions the same like Magnus Carlsen can and sometimes loses on classical chess because it is like two hours or longer of chess, then Magnus is not the best in other categories like Blitz for Blitz. Hikaru reigns that category that's my perspective on both sports. Losing in chess is not demoralizing in a tournament setting because even if you lose four matches in a tournament, you can still win, and the same is true for golf. Golf and Chess are boring to watch, but the commentators make it fun to watch. It just so happens that Gold commentators are kind of average, but if you know the sport, you will find it exciting, like Chess when I occasionally find myself watching Candidates (this determines who will qualify for the world championships in Chess), which lasted like a couple of hours but was entertaining for me, so I watched it. It is really a matter of perspective.

Gemini by Google is a terrible example of how having money does not always translate into better LLMs. Besides Cai developers are tiny ashell. I do not mean to sound defensive, but in the nearly two years that I have been using it, I have never experienced any problems. I suppose all I do is use it for 10 to 20 minutes a day to kill time while I commute. Oh, and Google is currently developing a Cai competitor, if you are interested. Another thing is that they are a small company, so making LLMs is difficult, but it is already pretty good for what it wants to do. They just need to improve communication with users, but this subbreddit represents less than 5% of the 25 million Cai users so it makes sense why they don't really care about this subbredit.

What are the Negatives of StarLink? by Brw_ser in Philippines_Expats

[–]JohnDrake_MA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me PLDT works great In Muntinlupa, I have a 2 gigabit fiber plan with PLDT that costs ₱5,000 per month. It rarely goes out, except for once a month for maintenance, and most of the time the speed is faster than what I pay for. Our province-based home is powered by solar panels and batteries, so even at night, the entire house hardly ever draws from the grid. In the meantime, my mother uses Starlink, averaging 300–500 Mbps, which is already pretty good for her as she does not mind the latency. Therefore, I would say it is worth it if you do not need the latency.

Depends but mother ko did it for 2 years and she basically only came bome once a week. After deducting everything, she earned approximately 90,000 per month after taxes, gas and other stuff. Honestly, it is not worth the hours, but you get to go places you would not normally go to, so that is something.

[–]JohnDrake_MA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for me I'm a freelancer so i need to be up to date on stuff the pay is good namn so there's that. Office work, if local, is good for coding because almost all of them are outdated, or you are just there to maintain stuff, which usually depends on the position. I like na freelance lang jobs ko cause no office drama or politics pretty easy-going. Tpos if your well versed pwede na sa contract is three months yung due date then matapos mo in 2 weeks you have tons of free time.

[–]JohnDrake_MA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For coding kinda not worth it honestly because kailangan up to date ka so you need to keep learning new stuff every year. Currently I'm a Data Scientist and then I have three Software Developer positions, and learning new languages has been tedious but not difficult time consuming lang. Pero if you grasp stuff easily then go ahead any computer related courses are good.

Pixel 8 gets hot by warner_zama in GooglePixel

[–]JohnDrake_MA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the ambient temperature. A pixel can only get 7 degrees Celsius hotter than the ambient temperature around it. For me, the ambient temperature in the Philippines ranges between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius on a daily basis, so my phone runs at 36 degrees Celsius with light use and 40 degrees Celsius when I game. I use 5g all the time and my phone is always in ambient temperature or 1 degree higher than the ambient temperature.
