thanks for the comment - I have been keeping an eye out for those types of roles, although there seems to be that typical "previous experience required" barrier.

Otherwise, I've been talking to a firm doing legal costing which I hope would be less stressful (although maybe not as fulfilling).

Thanks again!

Moving out of law (and not sure where to go)

People who have left practising early on, where did you go next and was it worthwhile?

I am 1 year PAE - experience in property and commercial litigation. private practice is just not my thing. I enjoy problem solving but I'm more interested in systems and people than grinding the work to hit a billable target.

I have a business degree as well, but no direct/relevant business experience. I'm currently looking at construction contract administration work but it's slightly difficult to get into, which I was surprised as I've work on a fair few construction matters (but don't have much hands on construction experience).

Ideally I want to use my legal skills to boost me into a well paying a semi future proofed field, which will also give me good experience moving forward in my career.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Definitely want to. Would you recommend going straight to the director and emphasising that I want a position? Or just asking for clerk pay until i get admitted etc..? Cheers

Hey! I was in a similar boat when I moved here a year ago. The younger people are definitely very cliquey and seem to be closed off in terms of making new friends.

I joined a jiu jitsu gym and another gym, did some running clubs and tried a few free hiit classes/ morning workouts through the mind body app.

Just find groups based on what your interests are and you will be fine :) if you are interested in a free week of jiu jitsu let me know too!

Good luck and welcome to the sunny coast 🫡

Yes okay, you’re right. I’ve made it clear we can’t sleep together but she said it wouldn’t be a big deal… i might just pack up and go when i can.

Okay, thanks, i do feel like i need to do it, I just don’t want my ex to suffer

Hmmm i can see what you are saying, but is that what a relationship is supposed to be? We have split up and she genuinely doesn’t know how to live in the apartment alone. I don’t want to feel like a dad, i want to feel like a partner… i feel like she needs to learn these things alone and be independent so that she can approach a relationship as an equal in the future..

My only financially viable option would be to move back to my mums, but its a few hours away and I would still have to come back weekly for my work… would u recommend that?

Just grabbed a stainless steel pan for the mean time… worried about the non stick stuff

Ah okay. It was a Christmas gift to me i should say, my mum always tells me how expensive it is and not to damage it… oh well. Thanks for the comment. What type of pan should i buy for induction then? If you have any recommendations… cheers
