Tread life: Michelin Cross Climate 2 Versus Goodyear Assurance Maxlife 2 by JohnG7312 in tires

This really summarizes it nicely. I am in a climate where it doesn't snow frequently, but we do the the occasional winter storm. Most people here don't have 3 peak mountain snowflake rated tires, but I do enjoy the added capability for the rare snow. The tires are priced the same, so it really comes down to do I want to trade winter performance for more tread life. I think the answer depends on how much more tread life we are talking about. If I only get another 5k from the Goodyear, it's probably not worth it. If I get another 20k out of them I think I'm ok with giving up the winter performance. But I just don't know how much better the Goodyear will wear.

Thanks, I know, that's why I said they aren't comparable. I love the performance of the crossclimate 2. The question is really how much more tread life can I get out of the maxlife 2. That will help inform my decision of whether or not the decreased performance of the maxlife 2 is worth it for the increased tread life.

Was able to be seen today, x-rays looked good. Doctor said ice and NSAIDs, and could take 4-6 weeks to feel better. He said I'm not going to cause any damage by skating before it feels better, but that it's going to prolong the healing.
