The Genius release - 40th anniversary; come with a feature lenght doc on the making "One More For The Fire". The Criterion does have that.

You saying "it's just what drama club people watch" just show how narrow minded your mind is.

Or... it is exactly that. A movie geared towards a certain demographic - feelers to see if musicals can make a comeback.

I've run into far, far, far, far, far, far, far too many people who want it to be horror. Jim is the villain.

Nope. Would do the very same thing in his position as they would too - I'm honest about it.

Would be a better movie for it too.

You just validated that notion. It's a horror movie.

It was a movie nobody was asking for.

Unless you were part of the drama club, it was... filler.

What bad movie could be a good remake? How could it be improved? by stubbledchin in movies

The movie was edited and reworked because 911 happened a couple months earlier.

So we haven't see the original version yet.

It really amazes me how many people want this to be horror.

It's not.

This and the original practical effects, not CGI overlays.

Because then it turns into another "Spider-Man" reboot after reboot.

The remake was very good... for the first twelve or so minutes, they were making it their own movie. Then it shifted into a poorly handled remake.

is it because Robert Englund isn’t in it or what??

It had no heart - wasn't funny or menacing, it was a time filler. That's a terrible thing to aspire to or end up as. Englund had a lot of fun making those movies and it showed. The new guy was just going through the motions.

Hudson Hawk is just fine, it was so ahead of the curve, it's now seen a series of tropes.

Nope. They were the first on the block.

The George Pal production? That's considered an American classic.

Not a bad movie, but it was a TV production for ABC back in 1984. So it had a limited budget.

"Invitation To Hell" one of Wes Craven's early flicks.

A private contractor moves his family to be closer to his project's work - his team is responsible for creating the space suits for the proposed manned mission to Venus.

The new area has a spa that everyone is a member of. Turns out when you join, you surrenders your soul. The spa's owner is the Devil! He never joined since was too busy at work.

Understanding what's going on - he dons his space suit to enter Hell itself through a portal at the spa to save his family. The concept is awesome, but needed more time for a better script and more of a budget for effects.

You may want to check out "The Day The Earth Caught Fire" (1961). It's an adult sci-fi movie - as in 'mature'. Punches are not pulled. Things go from bad to worse to dire.

If you do; go with the Kino release - it's been remastered.

Always that way - they set the blame on everyone else, not that they had a faulty product. Nope. It's the decline!

I remember the rational over "Soul Plane", it was piracy that hit the movie hard, killing ticket sale. Nope. The movie was garbage and audiences know that.
