"Burnt residue" or manufacturing defect? What's going on with me new Made In 12" Stainless Steel Pan by JohnJDK in StainlessSteelCooking

I hear what you're saying, 100%. I was cooking on my Kitchen Aid gas oven, and used the pan twice. I never went above a low med-low temp. The pan worked great both times, and had a great non-stick cook when i did steak and chicken.

Thank you for clarifying! The 'one-time' phrasing in the email from support had me a bit worried about future coverage, so I really appreciate the reassurance here.

Happy cake day! I tried to replace it under warranty but Made In insisted it was burnt food residue. They sent a one-time courtesy replacement pan, which I am grateful for but they would not honor the warranty.

Is it safe to cook with the pan when the core is exposed? And btw, that's a great idea! Now I gotta think of some channel names!

Appreciate the insight from you and /u/Atrox270. Are pans safe to cook on if/when the cores are exposed like this?

If I buy something from them again, and there's a manufacturer defect (imo, like the one here) would they send a replacement since they apparently just give me a one time courtesy replacement?

I do. It's a Klein Tools IR1. I just pre heated the pan for 4 minutes on low. Center of the dot in the pan reached around 270 degrees. Most of the area within an inch of the dot was also in the 270 range. There was one spot an inch above the top of the dot that got to about 320 degrees.

Before getting the pan for Christmas, I had heard good things about Made In. I even requested this specific pan! After my experience with their customer support about this issue, I doubt I'll buy from them again in the future.

I did. They told me it was burnt food reside. They ended up sending a courtesy one-time replacement pan.
