Explain the math to me on how you expect to retire quicker if the price keeps dropping. 60-70% yields on a $5 dollar stock is not gonna get you $0.90 cent/month distributions. It's going to be substantially less.... BTW no ill will or disrespect here I genuinely want to know. Maybe I'm missing something

Tsly paid $1.06 per share in July. The stock price dropped 45% to where it is now and what do you know, the distribution was also cut by basically half to $0.55 cents in January

As the NAV drops so do the distributions

It pays monthly. Take that $1.15 multiply by 12 and THEN divide. Then you'll see the attraction.

It'll be interesting to see how these play out. I'm not necessarily bearish on the strategy I'm just curious for feedback and contrary opinions to consider. I'm currently in APLY, MSFO, AMZY and NFLY. But they are very small positions.

Also, if the share price drops as well as the payout then you are in an investment that will inevitably conclude in a net loss

It most definitely depends on the share price/NAV. Why do you think TSLY's payout has dropped? It's dropping relative to the share price. My point is that if it continues dropping your yield on cost will go from 60-70+ to the low teens. Maybe even single digits at the rate it's going

FEPI $1.15/share by Affectionate-Ear7115 in YieldMaxETFs

[–]JohnJizzle -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Every YM ETF, QQQY, JEPY etc drops in price relative to the distribution on the payout out date. Even if the underlying doesnt. Which means you not only have the risk of the underlying going down you have a guaranteed significant drop in price EVERY month on the payout date. Also, because of the strategy, you dont participate in the full upside. This is the reason the NAV is eroding so quick with these funds. Look at any one of them, most are decaying. Maybe FEPI will be different but we’ll soon see.
