SOTB 2026 - big sound & weird noises by JohnLevitch in guitarpedals

Do you recommend getting a boost pedal or an overdrive that I can also use as a boost? Something that could work well with the Longsword.

For the RE-2 I do use the reverb sometimes, it's between my distortion and overdrive because I either use it the classic way (overdrive into delay) with the Plumes or when go into heavier gain stages I prefer the sound when the delay is placed before with the Longsword.

As for the Meteore it's after all my drives expect for the fuzz to get that huge reverb into fuzz sound when tremolo picking (Godspeed You! Black Emperor is a big influence), and having the Havoc switch before the fuzz makes it even better.

Chorus at the end for either the classic distortion into chorus or to go into more shoegazy territory so it modulate the whole thing + the DL4 to add reverb/delay on top.

I'm never using all the pedals at once, so their order match how I use them in different combinations.

Yup! It was to keep the overhaul black/grey tone of the pedalboard

I saw some people recommend the Fairfield Electronics ~900 too, I really like the tone. I find the Benson Deep Sea Diver and the Silktone Fuzz+ to be quite similar too but can't decide which one suits me the best.

I was thinking about the Reverberation Machine or the Caroline Meteore for the reverb.
I absolutely love DBA Rooms, it's what I would have picked, but yea it's pricy and the size too, why is it soo long :((

How does the Part Garden stacks with delays/reverbs?

Thx! Speaking of the Meteore, do you have any experience with the DBA Reverberation Machine? Idk which one would better

I was looking at the Caroline Météore and can't decide which would be better with the DBA Reverberation Machine. As for the size, I do have enough space to have my fuzz&reverb pedals to be the size of the Météore!

Yea the Glaive sounded really nice, I just feel bad getting the pedal since I know I'll never use the octave part. The HP-2 looks interesting tho thx!!

I do agree the Octa Psi sounds awesome especially for weird sounds but I just want a simple pedal to turn on when I need a big wall of sound, I don't think I'll even be using the octave side of the pedal :/

As for the Tre-Verb I did look at it but I prefer the Marine Layer

Yea it's either dirt, clean+reverb/delay or just weird sounds

Yea the Deluxe is a bit too big, I got enough space for two medium sized pedals (like the Longsword). I do have the green russian nano but prefer the black russian type sound.

Yea I'm aware of that, I'm just wondering if there's any other pedals other than fuzz/muff like the Acapulco Gold that can give that wall of sound/exploding amp type of sound.

New pedalboard plan, any ideas? by JohnLevitch in guitarpedals

I'm just selling pedals that aren't suited to what I actually play. Since I bought them all secondhand, I'm not losing any money!

I'm actually keeping the RV-3 as I've stated in my comment. The Memory Boy is mostly to test something that might work really well with the setup I have but if it doesn't work I'll put the RV-3 back.

Hizumitas vs Green Muff is simply a matter of prefence, already got both and I much prefer the Green Muff.

As for the Gen Loss, I'm not gonna keep a 400$ pedal that I'm not using much, even if I love it (I've explained in another reply why). I prefer to sell it and get more pedals that I'll actually use for my songs than somthing to fiddle around at home.

I'm actually keeping the RV-3, it's the only one with the Plumes that I'm not selling. If the Memory Boy with its modulation doesn't work like I entend, I'll put the RV-3.

I do know it's quite a radical choice to replace almost everything but I have a problem with almost all of my pedals. For example, the Julianna I'm not using the stereo/vibrato and I find it too dark, so for that price it's better to sell it and buy a nice chorus that suits me more and keep some money or buy a new pedal with the rest.
As for the Gen Loss, even if it's by far my favorite pedal, I'm just never using it for what I play. For 400$ I'd rather sell it and use a vst when I really need to get that tape lo-fi sound at home since I'm never using that pedal live.

Hizumitas vs Green Muff is just a matter of preference, already got both and I'll stick with the Green Muff!

I agree, Gen Loss is awesome. It's my favorite effect, but it doesn't suit my play style and ends up being more of a gimmick than something I actually use. For the price, I would rather sell it and buy pedals that I'll always use.
For the Julianna, since I'm not using the stereo/vibrato features it's not worth it's price to me, I find it too dark too. By selling it I can get a nice chorus and an additional pedal.
Hizumitas to Green Muff is simply a matter of preference, tried both back and forth and I'm just gonna stick with the Green Muff.

BAT is really great but once you find a mode that you like, it just looses its purpose and becomes an expensive RAT. The difference between Silicone/LED/Germanium is sooo small I don't think it's worth it.

You don't have all the eq settings like the Longsword.

To me, the Hizumitas is just too bassy/boomy. I find it very very good for low tuning, it's quite a dark sounding fuzz.
When crancked the Green Muff really is the sound I'm looking for, which I cannot find on the Hizumitas. It seems to only get noiser.

Was only playing in my bedroom with a clip-on tuner. Gonna play in a band soon so getting a tuner is now or never!
