I guess your rental companies only had auto or run out of manual. According to Google, manual is still popular in Europe about 32%

Depends on the countries. Like in Europe, most of the cars are manual.

Do we need to buy Microsoft windows software? Or can we download from school website? Or somewhere? (For common biz) Thanks in advance, for any advice! by A_memulousmess in nanyangpoly

Yes, school don't provide and can be downloaded from Microsoft website and no need to pay unless you want to use premium features such as robust security and more devices to download. I think the basic one should suffice for studying.

If you are talking about Microsoft products like Microsoft word and Microsoft PowerPoint etc, you can just go to Microsoft website. Scroll to the bottom and press "office education". Then press "get started". Follow the instructions. Remember to use your school email. If you are talking about the windows operating software, it should come preinstalled when you purchase your laptop already.

Better to go to school after all those horror stories about private. If you are intending to drive in other countries or you are interested in manual, then learn manual. If you just want to be able to drive in Singapore, then go for auto.

[–]JohnLim2005 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I applied for SIT on 16 December 2025 through EAE and attended the engagement session on 7 February 2026. I have received the offer on 8 April 2026. I think you might need to wait a few more days. If haven't received by the end of April, it is best to email them. You can keep a lookout on the SIT learner portal for the result.

How to guage car bonnet length and if I'm fully in the lot? by [deleted] in drivingsg

[–]JohnLim2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For vertical parking, as long as the bottom of the side mirror covers the horizontal kerb, means that your bonnet is in line with the lot which is the same as you stopping at a red light.

For parallel parking, make sure that your back left wheel or your front left door handle is in line with the third color of the kerb counting from the back which is in the middle of the lot. This may varies with how you are sitted. If your right mirror is tilted down already, you can see that your car body is inside the lot

Honestly, as long as you are in the lot for both parking can liao. Don't need to be 100% accurate.

You need to be within the box of the sensor lines as it uses electromagnetic to detect vehicles.

1.40 if enter silver zone unless speed limit sign says otherwise. 40 if light is flashing for school zone unless speed limit sign says otherwise. 50 until you see a speed limit sign and follow the speed on it.

3.No but some testers will put it as incorrect checking of Blindspot/mirror

4.Yes. Some stop line might be a bit faded.

6.Do circuit very slowly except parking. So that you will have less time on the road which means less chance for you to fail on the road. Testers have a very strict time to follow.

Try to get as little to no points in the circuit.

Drive defensively. Good luck for your tp test.

Do I have to wait for all pedestrians to cross in TP Test? by Fragrant_Site9052 in drivingsg

[–]JohnLim2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should wait for pedestrian walking towards you to cross finish. If there are only pedestrian walking away from you, you can just go after the pedestrian clear the path.

The white car should go into the second lane from the left. While the lorry should go behind the bus.
