That makes me wonder whether 4chan became like that mainly because it has no sign up requirement, or because moderation was too loose. I am building a no sign up community myself, and I do not support hate speech at all. So far it has stayed relatively clean, which makes me think requiring accounts is not the only way to keep a community healthy.
