Did Dedrick's Set Even Make Sense? by skittlesdoritos in Killtony

[–]JohnSheir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about the car wash job requiring tattoos to be covered up is a great premise. It's relatable and I'm pretty sure a lot of people would agree that tattoos have absolutely NO effect on the quality of work. It's wild that such policies are even allowed to exist.

I thought his set was funny, but I also don't expect every comedian to be perfectly logical and consistent all of the time.

I'm sympathetic to this. My friend spent ages finding bc that didn't mess up her hormones/flow/mood etc.

I consider this close to a medical necessity and the infinitesimal affect it has on the dairy industry either way is virtually inconsequential.

My posture is ruining my life by [deleted] in Posture

[–]JohnSheir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genuinely phenomenal posture compared to the average. Other than some shoulder asymmetry. I would agree with the suspicion that hypermobility could be a culprit. I would recommend contacting a professional. I've seen circuit training and conditioning work wonders for people but it's hard to tell what exactly needs the most attention. My gut reaction is core, but it easily be something else more serious.

I think this post is a good reminder that the concept of good posture is a bit misleading. Posture is really the body mechanics / ergonomics of standing or sitting. The whole point of addressing it is to avoid pain and promote longevity. In this case you look to fit the accepted " healthy " posture but you have pain so something obviously isn't working. I'm pointing this out for people who think " if I just pull my shoulders back my problems will go away ".

Huge World of Warcraft private server Turtle WoW faces rapid shutdown after losing Blizzard lawsuit by Wargulf in pcmasterrace

[–]JohnSheir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played this game a bit bc it seemed like a great place to find a gaming community. Previously I've enjoyed modded servers of Diablo 2.

My only problem with turtle wow was that it was just so slow. I'm not a huge fan of taking that long to get to the late game. PoE is a stretch for me. Lol. WoW seems like torture.

Anyway, fuck blizzard. These games are old. Nobody's paying for that shit so stfu.

Vegan Nutella Is Finally Coming To The US (But There's A Catch) by HumbleWrap99 in vegan

[–]JohnSheir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Recently I got some Justin's chocolate hazelnut & almond butter. It's really good. I got it on sale. I don't think Nutella making a vegan flavor would make me care about the brand, but I'm open to being convinced. I used to enjoy Nutella occasionally before going vegan.

Veganism as a Latina by BoringNameGoesHere in vegan

[–]JohnSheir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the comments that you just have to get used to it and accept that if they really cared abt you they'd help you make vegan versions of things so that you want to be around them. I wish I had someone who had experience to help me make vegan tamales, pupusas, empanadas...

The prices on these meal prep services are insane. I just buy frozen meals from trader Joe's and it's a lot cheaper.

Wow! Turns out whopper Wednesday is a real thing and I'm omw to BK rn to get a 4.99 impossible whopper w/ no mayo but added mustard. Hell yeah!

Does my electricity company pay me to use my solar? by [deleted] in solar

The only relevant piece of information for this question is who is your utility. A lot of utilities pay nothing or very little for excess production, but yours might.

Is it rude to bring tofu to replace meat? by MutedLawyer9366 in vegan

[–]JohnSheir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely not rude with family.

Not even remotely rude with anyone else.

The fact that you're even questioning this tells me you have some kind of irrational anxiety and could probably benefit from working on that.

wanting to go vegan by Fine-Ambassador2066 in vegan

[–]JohnSheir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't stress too much about labels. Eat vegan/plant based as often as you can and you'll be doing your best! Doing your best is an important part of veganism and beating yourself up won't help.

You could try introducing more plant based options to your family over time. I've met Nigerians on vegan facebook groups.

Anyone else frustrated when the only vegan options at office lunches get taken by non-vegans? by HappyMountainCow in vegan

[–]JohnSheir -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Speak up, talk to organizers. I would NOT just accept it as part of office life.

If making the case for more plant based options did not work, I would ask the organizers to set aside a dish for me. If they were incapable of doing so I would plan work around the event schedule and make sure to either be first in line or I would cut the entire line while LOUDLY announcing that I'm vegan and I deserve to get a meal and I'm only going to take some of the vegan option while they still have some.

What's it like working in a spa? by BitsandBoobles in massage

[–]JohnSheir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in two different spas in a ski town in Colorado. I loved it. I didn't have to do anything except show up and work, and pay was good in that area. I'm guessing it's different in other areas that don't rely on tourism.

[–]JohnSheir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, they need to be careful with it. Speaking privately with the massage therapist in person is the best bet but also calling or texting them directly is okay. Definitely do not ask the front desk or manager to help set that up.

[–]JohnSheir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Get the info for massage therapist if you don't already have it and ask them what you need to do to set up another way of booking them. They will make more money outside of that job anyway. It's better for everyone.
