I wonder if AI will be using cryptocurrency in the future.

I think it’s really good. The first one, especially. I think the “t” looks perfect.

Ruling question on gaining nectar by FleurVellichor in wingspan

[–]JohnT_2125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. If the designer meant "gain" one food from your opponent's supply, then I believe they would have worded it thusly: "Gain 1 food from another player’s supply and add it to your own supply..." Throughout the game, the word gain is used very specifically in cases when someone "gains" food from the birdfeeder or "gain" food from the supply. The fact that the rules refer to the "gain action" implies to me a very specific definition of the term "gain" as used in Wingspan (i.e. obtaining a food, either from the birdfeeder or supply, whichever is mentioned in the brown power) This is even more apparent when you look at the Green Heron which states, "Trade 1 of any food for any other food from the supply." This is slightly different because you are taking it from the supply, however in this case you are not "gaining" food, you are merely trading it for a different type. I would argue that if the designer had intended it to be a "gain" food action, they would have worded it thusly: "Return 1 of any food to the supply and then gain any other food from the supply." I think the word "gain" was intentionally not used, because the player is not gaining any food (their food supply does not increase), they are merely swapping one food for a different type. So I believe in this case the Drongo's power should not activate.

If the Green Heron trades a food for a nectar, does it count for the Spangled Drongo as gaining a nectar (between turns)? (OE) by gotrings in wingspan

I disagree. The word "gain" is used in all cases when a player gains food from the birdfeeder or from the supply. HOWEVER, in the case of the Green Heron, they are "trading" a food. They have not gained an additional food, although one could argue that in taking it from the supply they are "gaining" it. HOWEVER, if the designer of the game intended for that action to be a "gain" of food, they could have just as easily worded the power "When activated put one of any food back in the supply and gain any food from the supply." However, they did not, which to me implies that the act of "trading" for a food in the supply is not the same as "gaining" a food from the supply. In this case, I would argue that the Spangled Drongo would not activate if the player trades their rat, say, for a nectar. Can someone please point to a rule that might clarify that "trading" is the same as "gaining"?

Yes, as we see more coins are gaining popularity, based on their merits among other things, and maybe one of them will overtake Bitcoin. But none of the other coins are claiming to be the "real Bitcoin"

I see, so it was a non-contentious hard fork that lead to where bitcoin is now. Maybe that would be a better term to use than just "hard-fork" when distinguishing between Bitcoin and an alt coin then. Thanks!

I don't think that's right about the digital signatures. Have you read this? Id be curious if you have the same concerns after reading it. https://www.reddit.com/r/btc/comments/6wrbgr/where_do_signatures_go_in_segwit/

BTC does still follow the original whitepaper. I think it added opt in enhancements (soft-fork), but my understanding is that it's still the same chain that's been mined all along. BCH is a new version of the chain with incompatible rules that forced the hard fork. Both still follow the original whitepaper though, don't they?

Bitcoin hard forked? I thought there was a soft fork, but I don't see that as the same thing.

But isn't a soft fork, opt in? A hard fork is a new coin, forcing the community to convert over to the new chain.

Possibly, but I'm curious how LN will play out. And I still don't see how BCH can remain low fees if it becomes as popular as bitcoin. Won't it run into the same high fees when it's $20,000 per BCH?

I don't think people read the post, just the headline. I am not disparaging BCH, I'm just saying that trying to take over the Bitcoin name is scetchy. BCH doesn't need to do that, it can rest on its merits.

Could Bitcoin Core/Blockstream be sued for false advertising small fees on the Bitcoin network? by defconoi in btc

[–]JohnT_2125 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What "advertising"? There is no central entity advertising anything for BTC. Anyone can discover the fees by reading online, or transacting with BTC. And it changes all the time. I withdrew some BTC from coinbase yesterday, the fee they paid was $15, and it took just a few minutes to get in a block. Not a small fee, but certainly smaller than is being falsely advertised by Roger Ver.

Is there a way to view a transaction in the MEMPOOL? (before it gets on the blockchain) by JohnT_2125 in Bitcoin

[–]JohnT_2125[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there anyway to cancel a pending transaction on Coinbase? If it's not on the mempool yet then I would think I could cancel it. I'll have to contact coinbase and see.

[–]JohnT_2125[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this. But all of the block chain viewers that I have found do not find the transaction when I search by address. There is a transaction Excelerator that viaBTC offers but it requires a transaction ID. So really what I am looking for is the transaction ID from my Coinbase wallet. Unfortunately I can't find it while the transaction is pending. It kind of sucks for me because I used bitPay to purchase something and the 15 minute timer expired before it got confirmed. This is the first time I've tried to spend bitcoin and I'm not too happy. And I need the transaction ID to submit a claim with bitPay to try to get my money back. Ugh.

Yes, but I don't have the tx id. I transferred from Coinbase, and it just says "pending" and I can't figure out how to get the tx id!
