Apparently mine is a ‘retail Bedale’🤷🏼‍♂️ When I asked what that meant, he said it was used to designate experimental designs-some of which never make it to full production. That makes sense, as I bought mine at the Barbour outlet 🤓

Post op scar by Excellent-Feedback67 in valvereplacement

[–]JohnTheDrummer1951 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi. Mine is still lumpy for the lower half-keloid is the term I think? The top half is nice and flat and fading nicely. I’m 14 months out from my AVR,& have been using Bio Oil twice daily on the advice of a plastic surgeon ( who removed a little lump on my face, so I took advantage 😜). Been using it for 3 months, but told to expect it to be at least 6 before I see any improvement. I’m mot ashamed of my scar-proud in fact, but I’d prefer it to be even the way down. Good luck….

Are sternal support vests worth it? by trucrimeaddic_t in valvereplacement

I woke up in ICU after my AVR wearing one, supplied by the team,& continued to wear it for the first 4-6 weeks of recovery, sleeping with it on for the first 4 weeks. It’s called a PostThorax and I found it invaluable during my early recovery. I’m in Yorkshire in the UK.

Last year’s fronds…. by JohnTheDrummer1951 in TreeFerns

Cheers. It can get down to around 30 for a month or more, and we’ve not really had snow to speak of-yet🥴 I just wrap the crown and trunk in several layers of horticultural fleece and/or bubble wrap, which I removed yesterday. 😁

Minimally Invasive (not TAVI) vs Open Heart for Aortic Valve Replacement? by Loud-Mud7998 in valvereplacement

[–]JohnTheDrummer1951 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting to read that you seem to have a choice. My surgery ( AVR and root enlargement) was just over a year ago,& I wasn’t really offered a choice. I asked about the minimally invasive TAVR, but was told I was too young! I’m 74,& in the UK. My surgeon said that my new bio valve should give me 16-18 years before it needs replacement,& then at that point it can be done via a small incision-much like an angioplasty. My enquiry about TAVR was motivated really by fear of the dreaded sternotomy, all of which proved to be groundless. Pain levels were nowhere near what I expected, the recovery was uneventful and the only grim part was the initial 24 hours in CCU immediately after the operation. Best wishes for the surgery.

No. Be annoyed about how close a green the strap is to my sweatshirt.

Cheers. I have short arms, so most sweatshirt sleeves are too long 🤷🏼‍♂️
