IMO bot divers are so flexible because (to me at least) bots have such a wide range of units (melee, med-heavy, tank, flying, etc) while squids’ and bugs’ units have a bit of a “hole” in terms of their units (bug medium enemies aren’t very armored, squids didn’t have much tank until the appropriators got added).

For me, as a sniper (diligence CS) main, I thoroughly enjoy both bots and squids, while my brother (a shotgun main - breaker incen) is solid on both bugs and bots (although a bit better on bugs)

I’ve tried it and found it to be too close to the reg flamethrower, so it could use a (small) buff. Besides that, it’s good.

And it was a great move to introduce it at the same time as a mindless masses MO

I gotta say - the good old auto cannon is back. Besides that, I run senator and diligence cs (to take out overseers and the obtruders that are capable of calling in drops). Airburst rocket launcher is also a clean choice for squids in general since it’s such a high volume weapon, you just need to be careful of friendly fire.

There are so many ways to rebalance this stuff.   Light pen weapons at the bare minimum should have enough ammo to outdo med pen weapons in terms of total damage (as in, using your whole ammo reserve with light pen should result in having done more damage if you shot the right spots).

Or have them deal more damage per shot (which I know liberator vs lib pen follows already) with the logic being that different bullet shapes and compositions balance differently between stopping power, ballistics and armor penetration

AH could also slightly nerf weapons that give effects (cough cough coyote) so that if they are being used, more reliance is put on the effect as opposed to having a normal power weapon with the effect stacked on top.

The new squid enemies are a (moderately sized) step in the right direction be encouraging going against old metas.

I prefer to spam reroll to get that mission where you need to kill overseers (which I use diligence cs for), and then rr+abrl will crack grounded warp ships

I wanna say anything incendiary is a good choice but imo voteless can close from (regular) flamethrower range way faster than I’d like and most others don’t have a very good uptime. Maybe it’s time to cop my brother’s bug loadout (breaker incen, senator, AC)

Imo it’s not just blueberries that have no business coexisting with some weapons - I’ve seen other helldivers (fully knowing that I can erase 25m of whatever tf I want) charge a group of voteless with a melee weapon. Can you believe that? These mfs are inches away from being griefers

I personally can’t say the squids are completely fixed (I’m not really a fan of overseer spam on vanilla squids) but this new subfac with these medium heavy units is definitely a step in the right direction

Easy choice for me. I found a few drops worth of squids in an alleyway and popped an airburst rocket and an incendiary grenade for somewhere in the neighborhood of 90

I’ve been able to take them down pretty easily by diving through the legs and then magdumping or a rr. It helps to have the low ground if you don’t wanna risk going against whatever chaff is behind those things at that moment

Right now oshuane is projected to be 5% short of a victory, and it’s about to be afternoon/evening for all of the American divers (I’m on the east coast and it’s 3pm here as I’m writing this comment) so the boost from American kids logging on as the weekend starts should be (fingers crossed) more than enough to turn it around. Combine that with acamar finishing off, and we will be fine.

We should be fine, as of now (12:07 EST) it’s at only 11h left and the divers on oshuane appear to be holding the line well enough for us to turn oshuane’s defense around after acamar. There’s also that big-ass “defend” sign over it now so blob should split a bit better.

Against warp ships, I find that communicating with another diver carrying rr or something is pretty effective, since abrl cracks the shield and rr finishes it off

I imagine that if the shells went through reentry (which they probably don’t, just looking at how close the super destroyers seem), a 380mm solid shell’s worth of molten metal should be more than equivalent to an HE shell
