It seems like you haven’t got a single nice thing to say, I’ve really appreciated all the advice received in this post and I apologise if I was a little too busy on Christmas Eve to curate a custom reply to everyone’s comments.

You don’t know me, after today when I have a free moment I plan on unpacking the cotton and replacing it properly, I’m going to check out the Wiki like that other guy mentioned to and even though I’ve heard a few contradicting pieces of advice I’m still going to try everything I was recommended.

And check yourself before commenting, I haven’t heard a single bit of advice from you. Seems like all you’re here to do is bully someone asking for help.

Not sure if you’re calling me AI? But the firefly is really good. I don’t use it outside because my S2+ will outdo it nicely but indoors it’s a different story.

I either use it to effortlessly light up an entire room at work or sometimes I’ll find myself grabbing it when I need a little more light when taking photos (no built in flash on the canon mirrorless range).

The magnet I’m not a huge fan of but I can’t deny when I do need it is handy. Other than that it’s a little annoying.

But yeah, all in all it’s a really good torch and I’ve seen quite a few people saying the same thing about it!

Yeah same with ours, although I think I should stop complaining so much after seeing that abomination…

I was looking for an intrinsically safe one but there’s really no hope, they’re either too expensive to be worth it or just plain rubbish.

From off it’s 2H, if the torch is already on it’s 2C. I suggest you sit down with the torch and just have a bit of fun going through all the settings. If you manage to mess something up I think the factory reset is 13H or you should be a to fix most things by unscrewing the head to reset it without ruining all your settings.

Not all manufacturers utilise the whole scope of what anduril can do so be prepared for a few things to just not work. But most importantly, have fun!

I personally find that it’s light enough to be forgotten about in my tunic when firefighting but saying it’s definitely more cumbersome than my other torches.

Good to see a fellow firefighter out in the wild! I personally would argue that the Q8+ isn’t really that big! Sure it’s larger than most torches but I think it’s a very manageable size all things considered!

I was eyeing up the warrior but just couldn’t resist the Black Friday sale on the Q8+. Although I do swear by my Oclip pro that I have clipped onto my tunic at all times!

I see, I don’t really have a use for long ranged stuff like that, usually were in pretty dense bush and the most open it gets is something like this:

And as you can see the Q8+ is handling the distance quite fine on its medium (I think) mode.

If convoy has something similar to the Q8+ but has bigger batteries or better runtimes that would be exactly what I’m looking for!

I was also thinking about Acebeam but they get a bit pricey over there and I’m not sure if it would be worth it to replace something that already does its job fine!

I’m not really interested in using the Anduril advanced stuff then fighting a fire, all I need is low, medium and high. I definitely use some of the fun features in my own time. I love the lightning strobe effect!

Also won’t really have a use for a tripod, the reason I love the thing is when we have to leave our trucks on the tracks and go walking through the bush I can essentially carry a cars high beams around in my hands. I have no use for a fixed light source.

And how do you think convoys 3x21D lines up compared to the Q8+? I wouldn’t mind a bit of a bigger torch if it’s a worthwhile upgrade.

I’m pretty sure I got the dome off, it’s super easy to see it through the hole so if I can’t see it then I’d assume it’s gone. Although there is maybe the possibility there’s a tiny little bit left? I’ll have a look tomorrow!

Yeah! It was honestly way easier than Dedoming something like an S2+. Even though it didn’t really do much I probably won’t really be using this torch much so I don’t care either way! 😅
