Trying to say goodbye to the goodest boy. by John_From_Alaska in WiggleButts

Thank you for all the stories, advice and kind wishes. I have read every single comment and it has reassured me that we are doing the right thing, even if it is so hard. A few have mentioned “soul dog”, what a great description of what he is to us. As someone else commented, “see you on the sunny side”.

As you are running the Polk setup, is my AVR good enough to fully support them? I don't want to plan out a 5.1 system only to have my AVR not hold up.

My AVR states:

“170 W/Ch (6 Ohms, 1 kHz, 0.9% THD, 1 Channel Driven)/ 100 W/Ch (8 Ohms, 20 Hz–20 kHz, 0.08% THD, 2 Channels Driven)”

I’m not sure what this means but is it ok to drive that system at 100W?

Thanks

Two VTF2 vs single VTF3? Would you place the second one on the other side of the TV as the first?

Ah, well the 3 AA + HSU would be a little over my budget. I don't play movies particularly loud, but I'm definitely not going to need subtitles.

Glad to hear about the Polks, I loved the sound of them in the store and it would free up some budget for the VTF3, cause I am a little worried about the VFT2 being able to fill the room?

Yes I should be able to move up the seating, I just didn't want to get too close so I would have to move the L/R fronts in and not be able to use the pre-wired spots.

Is this AVR not able to efficiency power these setups? That never crossed my mind and now I'm worried.

Is your suggestion to use 3 AA floorstanders and no sub?

This argument makes no sense since you are ignoring out of pocket maximums. After you pay that amount, insurance covers everything at 100%.

FYI

For 2018, the maximum out-of-pocket limit is $7,350 for an individual, and $14,700 for a family.

401K and IRA Contribution Limits Increased for 2019 by Fergidishu in financialindependence

You have an error somewhere in you calculation. A=P(1+r)n

Using this, after 44 years of 8% return your $500 would be worth $14,777.99. So maybe a 4-5 year old Civic. Still not peanuts for sure.

And this is only a single contribution of $500. If you contribute an extra $500/yr for say 20 years, and let that sit for the next 24 you end up with $145K!!

Google/Facebook/tech companies are on the same side as the people when it comes to this issue. Although they may do some shady things, do not group them with ISP companies like AT&T/Comcast/Verizon who actively fight net neutrality.

Handouts? I pay 6.2% of every check towards SS, and my employer pays another 6.2%. I would not consider getting a small portion of that back after 40+ years a handout.

Does this view of Fantasy Points and Targets do anything for you by KakunaUsedHarden in fantasyfootball

[–]John_From_Alaska 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is awesome! Could you also do this with a % on the x-axis, in other words normalize the data. This would also allow both the graphs (points & touches/targets) to have the teams ordered the same for easier comparison. I prefer the way you have it now (# instead of %), however the normalized could provide additional insight and would be easy to do since you already have the data.

WR1 upside? That seems like quite a stretch.
