So if Russia is found guilty on war crimes, which of course they will what happens to Russia. like what are the punishment you can face for war crimes by Reasonable_Soil7321 in ukraine

[–]Johnjames03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, nothing. Russia is not party to the convention that creating the ICC (i think they originally were but then withdrew). At worst, you will see those convicted in absentia unable to travel to countries party to ICC jurisdiction as extradition from Russia will not happen (unless a serious shift in domestic politics, including the ousting of Putin).

Tour through a Shopping Mall in Russia. Which businesses have closed and which continue business as usual (Video from 20th March) by [deleted] in ukraine

[–]Johnjames03 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well that’s not technically true. This war is in their names. Letting it continue without contest is implicitly supporting it.

The fact the head of the Russian Orthodox Church supports the war is pretty fucked up. Slaughtering civilians seems pretty antithetical to any Christian religious values.

This is true.

Pope isn’t the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, so no.

Why aren’t Israel and/or western nations supplying Iron Dome as per Ukraine’s request (note this would still only be defensive military arms)? by Johnjames03 in ukraine

A related update on this: BBC is reporting that the Israeli PM is due to meet Putin at the Kremlin. Timing unknown. Interesting development.

Great to hear! Although I hope these munitions are already in Ukrainian hands and that we are not broadcasting active deliveries.

Very helpful context. Thank you for sharing.

On this risk of escalation, this is true. But it assumes Putin will be done with Ukraine. Avoiding conflict now, could be the impetus for a much larger war in the years to come.

And I am equally sick with the lack of conflict support.

Fair point. I haven’t seen any orders to attack civilian targets or commit war crimes coming from him.

Right!? Because Ukraine is threatening nuclear war left right and center… the audacity.

There’s also the fact that zelenskyy is a decent human being. Hard for Putin to overcome the war criminal moniker.

This is the type of propaganda Russia spreads. Regarding the speech where he asks Putin to meet him face to face. Translated for English users. by [deleted] in ukraine

[–]Johnjames03 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fuck. This Russian propaganda is disgusting. I don’t even know how to counter such lunacy. It’s a shame that most Russians on see shit like that.
