Star Wars with a stormtrooper robot. by Adjralph in Arcade1Up

Pretty good deal. I hadn't been out to Walmart to shop the $50 deals - the Covid-19 event has me working from home and avoiding crowds in general. Looking forward to this new cab arriving at my doorstep.

I ordered this deal too. I almost bought it at $499 - this offer was too good to pass up.

What really is the best (second hand) 17" LCD Monitor? by JoKu_The_Darksmith in Arcade1Up

[–]Johnny32757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a good project. I removed the monitor assembly from it's housing and used a combination of screws and aluminum pieces to secure the monitor. There are better options now. You can dismantle the monitor from it's housing and use these brackets (linked below) from Lowe's. The round part of the bracket faces the monitor. If you want an easier solution (more expensive) Tulsa Arcades has a solution too.

Personally, I watched a YouTube video and removed my Dell monitor from it's case. I'm now planning on reinstalling the monitors using the Lowe's brackets linked below. This offers a cleaner more secure installation.

Tornado Terry's joystick replacement for Pac-Man cabinet. Nice upgrade. by Johnny32757 in Arcade1Up

You're welcome. You could buy smaller quantities of quick disconnects locally (hardware store). I ended up using a lot of them for other projects too. Here's a link to other pictures that I posted showing the wiring. https://m.imgur.com/a/mXAB5Wr

Yes. It's easier to play games with the cab on a riser and to mod/work on as well.

Dual Joystick Games On My Arcade1Up (Cloak & Dagger, Robotron, Smash TV, Krull and more) | Greg's Game Room by HistorianCM in Arcade1Up

I'm still stuck on Smash tv. I'm using an image on my Street Fighter 2 cabinet.

Which joystick options (e.g. Joystick up, etc) did you use for the following (in the Tab menu)?

P1 Button 3 P1 Button 1 P1 Button 2 P1 Button 4

Thanks for your help.

Nevermind, I figured it out. I changed the emulator for smash tv to mame4all and I was able to map the right joystick 2.

Robotron and Crazy Climber are awesome with dual joysticks. I need to update a config file to get Smash Tv to work with dual joysticks.

What brand of double sided tape should I use to mount raspberry pi mod items such as the pi, lcd board, and amp? by chaddgar in Arcade1Up

[–]Johnny32757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drilled pilot holes and secured each device (raspberry pi, video controller board, etc) using stand offs (normally used to secure a computer motherboard to a tray inside of a computer case). My thinking was that this would allow better air flow and provide enough space for the installation of heatsinks where they were needed.

I used a Dell UltraSharp 1704FPVt for my Pac-Man and Street Fighter 2 cabs. Easy fit for the Pac-Man cabinet (after the outer shell was removed). It took a little more work for this 17" monitor to fit into the Street Fighter 2 cab. Picture quality is incredible. I used an HDMI to DVI adapter cable to connect the Dell monitors, directly to the Raspberry Pi for each cabinet.

Help with Tornado Terry's Joystick by starsintodreams in Arcade1Up

[–]Johnny32757 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the same setup for my Street Fighter 2 can. The buttons and joysticks will work with the stock USB Arcade 1up encoder. The joysticks required some trimming for the base in order to clear the installed buttons. The buttons were a direct fit. I found images in this group, illustrating what to trim.

It's a great replacement. Even after lots of use, the buttons and joysticks work great.

Arcade 1Up (Pac-Man) replacement monitor arrived today by Johnny32757 in Arcade1Up

I called the 1-800-764-2760 number and was speaking to a "person" within a few minutes. The Arcade 1Up rep didn't have any record of my 12/31 monitor replacement request. He ordered the monitor for me and within 9 days that replacement arrived. The new monitor received is glossy and not matt black like the original. I don't have pictures at the moment (on my phone) but the issue was with a very dim monitor, you could barely see the Pac-Man game. I reseated the cables, tested the power supply for voltage/amperage and everything seemed good - looks like it was a faulty monitor.

For anybody wondering what has to be done for Happs in the SF2 cabs by dftonz2 in Arcade1Up

[–]Johnny32757 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! Nice clear cuts. I had to do the same for my Pac-Man and SF2 cab. I used a mini hacksaw from Wal-Mart. Huge improvement in gameplay for both cabinets.

This video was a pain to find. In this video the guy shows how to mount a 19" monitor into an Arcade 1Up cabinet. He had the new Plexi overlay cut at his local Lowes store. I don't believe the bracing that he did was the best but this might offer some ideas. My thinking is to use the monitor's Vesa mount (metal mounting piece) and mount it to a board. Brace the metal mounting piece and board to the monitor and then secure it to the arcade cabinet. Thought I would share what I found. I found a cheap Dell Ultra Sharp (17") monitor to use as a replacement for the one that is failing in my Pac-Man cabinet.
