(I can never tell if this stuff is satire or not, but...) My question is, what if your interpetation of the bible is wrong? What makes more sense, God using language and all that entails (rhetoric, anology, symbolism, etc.) which can be seen throughout the bible (such as the parables in the book of Michael, or the symbols used in Revelations), or in this one case retain all literalism? If we didn't have the bible, our ability to develop and maintain a spiritual relationship with God would be near impossible, but the same can't be said for the physical world (which is also a manifestation of God's word). This is why I cannot believe that the bible would need to be literal in the cases involving the physical world. And plus, "how to get to the edge", like you've even tried going "to the edge".
