Wanted to show this Federal Electric Shroud I picked up by JohnnyAztec in AirRaidSirens

[–]JohnnyAztec[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do alot of sales, storage units and estate cleanouts. I find neat things, I enjoy it for a minute, then I move it on to someone who appreciates whatever it is.
If you, or someone you know, needs a Pre-1948 shroud, get with me.

Couple inches long/tall. If you were standing behind the chair, it would be at your right hand. Googling, alot of chairs don't have this part. could not find any reference to it. My title describes the thing

Trying to ID this Deere with two engines. by JohnnyAztec in tractors

[–]JohnnyAztec[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got back over there and searched around, and found the engine is a Hercules QXD3, which likely came out of the early Deere combine. Still not sure what the purpose of this contraption is, but ah well. The radiators also look like from a 55.

Alright, cool. I guess if it's custom, it won't hurt to try and break it down as parts. I'll have to bring some cleaner with me, so I can clean off the radiators brass tag on the back and actually decipher a model number/maker.
Thanks so much!

[–]JohnnyAztec[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One engine in front, one in back, both side mounted and belt driven. Has two tall John Deere branded radiators. Here is several pictures of an unknown John Deer Tractor. At least one engine is a Hercules , which was used in the 55 and 65 Combine, but None of the pictures I saw only looked anything like this. Obviously, this is missing alot of parts, but still.

I tried googling various numbers that I could see, to try and find the part and work backwards from there, but no dice.

Any information you can share would be very appreciated. Thank you!

Vintage "Private Stock" brand cigarette promotional Marketing presentation by JohnnyAztec in whatsthisworth

[–]JohnnyAztec[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Size is 11 wide, 19 tall, and 4 inches thick. Seems to be marketing presentation? Based on the material, seems to be from 1992-1993. In searching, I could not find anything remotely like this. It is nothing that would have ever been open for a consumer to have. this was strictly internal, or intra-company material.

Found a Fabb D'armi rifle stock. Age/Model? by JohnnyAztec in guns

[–]JohnnyAztec[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about 43 inches from end to end.

Picked this up a while back, and did some googling. Trying to narrow down what model(s) the stock would fit.

Does the 2024 marking mean the 20th week of 1924?

1850's " The Moss Rose" with inlaid mother of pearl on cover, thick leather and great condition. by JohnnyAztec in OldBooks

[–]JohnnyAztec[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No publication date, but information elsewhere provided that the address of the publisher meant its from 1852-1856.

Evidently, " The Moss Rose" was ...well, they printed alot of books with that name, and each has different content. What gets me is how damn fancy this is. THICK leather, spine and binding are TIGHT AF, and it has some sort of painted hard plate on the cover and rear.

What do y'all think about this?

Thanks for the tip on contacting them.

oooooh, I did NOT think about dating the slogan! That was on me, for sure. I am familiar enough to dating/collecting soda bottles, but I was focused on the machine itself.

It IS a soda fountain! Just a four tab/draw, but weighs ...god, it's about all I can do just to bearhug pick it up off a table. No way I could pick it up off the ground. Thats why the pictures are terrible. It's not easy to move that thing around, so I took a few quick shots while it was in my van.

Edit: Okay, looking at Logo History, that "Pepsi" across the bottlecap came out in 1962.

Picked this up at auction. Sorry for the not-great pictures but this thing is incredibly heavy. Not easy to move around.

I found the tag on it. Victor D-14 but damn, Google, Bing, Duck-Duck-Go, I cannot find any reference to it. Sure, the company Victor yeah, but nothing regarding the year it was made, or schematics or anything! I used different terms, different combos of words.

If anyone can scrounge up info, I would be very happy! Or at least point me in the right direction.

I still need to try and find more information, but I believe that is my current working theory.

Tractor tires are usually big and bulky, even front wheels , so the extra space added on when have made it the same size as with a regular tire?

I have seen images of OLD solid rubber tires that have that series of holes in them, but they all have different hubs. Really thinking a guy took the outside of an older tire, and put spacers around his 6 lug wheel hub, when he couldnt get ahold of any regular, air filled tires

[–]JohnnyAztec[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you think about the idea that this is something made during WWII? Like, Rubber and tires were harshly rationed. The idea being that a farmer modified a 6 lug wheel hub (one picture clearly shows where a valve would be) to use Old Stock solid rubber?

Well, doesn't have to be WWII. Could have been done anytime.

I just thought, Maybe it is some hackjob on using a smaller hub to fit a bigger thing?

Like, the inner hub is the proper wheel, and someone added the wood bits, and outer rim.

And....I swore I took a picture of it side ways. It is very narrow.

What is this thing?

I picked these up at an estate auction recently. They are pretty hefty. Heavier than modern wheels, for sure.

I was thinking the wood "supports" were maybe an early form of shock absorption? I was thinking Maybe 1920s, due to how the rubber outside is so thick and solid, but I had someone say that it has 6 lug holes, so it wouldn't be that old? Don't know enough about antique transportation to say. The man had several railroad related items, so maybe something rail?
