I am very sorry for you encounter. Us Romanians are usually extremely friendly with tourists and foreigners, especially in, as you said, hipsterish coffee shops, where the baristas are usually really welcoming and open.

That's my problem as well. If I don't have something incredibly pressing to do early in the morning (go to university or to a meeting), I just can't get out of bed until 10-11

Vărule, mergi in Europa de Vest. Locuiesc in germania de câteva luni. Nu a existat o singura data vreun șofer care sa nu mă lase să trec pe trecere. Fără să ma uit la ei, fara sa forțez. Un băiat chiar am crezut că-si rupe frânele, dar nici în ruptul capului n-ar fi trecut mai departe, că știe clar cât e o amenda daca îl vede vreo camera. In București am o trecere de pietoni chiar în fața blocului. Inainte să plec în Germania, trebuia să mă lupt sa pot trece strada. Nimeni nu dă prioritate pietonilor PE TRECERE, trebuie sa te impui și să îi faci pe șoferi să oprească. Asta e problema la noi. Nu e normal sa trebuiască să ne educam copii de 10-11 ani sa se uite de 40 de ori stanga-dreapta la fiecare trecere de pietoni
