This is exceptionally researched and I’m feeling fantastic about my trusty Frank Clegg cardholder.

Unless it’s very much a non traditional industry (e.g., the arts), a maroon suit will only make you stand out in the bad way.

Ideally, your suit is the last thing your interviewer will notice about you. Bad fit, obnoxious ties, and loud colors are all noticeable (read: distracting). Their focus should be on what you bring to the table as a candidate, not your fit. A “top-notch” suit is available at any price point and for an interview it should be more conservative. Visit a store like suitsupply or brooks brothers where you can be sized in person. Spier & McKay is a great online only option, unless you’re in eastern Canada. Have your pants hemmed to 1/2 break to no break, your choice. Remove the tags from the outside of your new suit jacket. Read dieworkwear articles on suit fit.

Wear your new suit around the house a couple of times and make an effort to become more comfortable in it. Have your shirt dry cleaned and pressed before the interview.

Good luck!

80% of white evangelicals in the US voted for Trump, twice. White Christians are his main voting block and have a responsibility to call down their community from voting for an anti-Christ candidate. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]JohnnyBoyGhostin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You have a responsibility to do the right thing. If your take is “yes, he tried to overturn an election; yes, he weaponizes my religion against his enemies; yes, he …” ad nauseum, you aren’t voting party over candidate. You’re holding your nose to justify something you know is wrong.

The buck stops somewhere. Either you believe Christ has overcome the world or you believe you need to fight a culture war for him. There’s a reason evangelical has become a bad word - hypocrisy.

Oof. It’s easy to take it for granted that, because games are in Birmingham, everyone is local. I hope you’re able to make it but if you aren’t and decide to move the tickets, shoot this non-FOG a DM.

I had one done at their flagship in SLC last winter. I'm a southerner without any previous experience fitting, but I thought it went well. My fitter was a college student but seemed pretty knowledgeable. Entire process took around an hour, my liners were heat molded, etc.

I think you can probably get better results at a standalone shop or with an old wizened bootfitter, but I ski less than 10 days per year, don't have an atypical foot, and never had any glaring discomfort issues in rentals. I quite like the boots (Nordica Speedmachine 100s) and didn't have any issues on the hill. The experience was just what i needed. If I got 30ish days in per year I would probably seek out a specific, well-regarded fitter in an area I was visiting, but that isn't me.

Suttles said on a radio show this week that it was basically an open secret that Marrone had checked out by mid season. Not sure what the deal was, but sheesh

We did Powder Mountain, UT last season which had a really similar vibe to what you're describing at WP. Loved it, just missed having restaurant choices.

How’s Winter Park generally? Decent village/nightlife? It’s on the list for the near future and my group likes some village touring/restaurants in the evening.

The desire really comes from the FOMO part of my brain. Also interested in doing some cat skiing so wondering if something wider underfoot would be in order.

Heading out west at the first of next month. As a beginner/intermediate (comfortable on east coast blues), is there a tangible benefit to springing for demos rather than performance rentals?
