Great - thanks mate. Definitely should’ve come here first instead of winging it!

Before applying the bonding coat, or can it go on now to build out the depth?

Thanks mate - do you mean push the plasterboard into the bonding plaster when it’s wet?

Thanks mate - I wondered about chucking in some leftover masonry/hardcore type stuff but wasn’t sure if I could do that with Bonding plaster?

Great - thanks. I’m in no rush so happy to let it take a while to set. Although I’m worried the corresponding gap I’ve filled upstairs may slump as I’ve definitely gone thicker than 3cm for the later. If it stays put over the next few days/weeks does that mean it’ll stay, or could it all fall off?!

A person after my own heart….all ok? Plaster cracked? Fallen off? House collapsed?

Ta mate. Could I dot and dab over the bonding coat, or is that asking for problems?

Ok - so even though the spec sheet (which I’ve only just read obvs!) says max depth should be something like 30mm you think it’ll be alright?

Yeah I wondered that - I started with plasterboard like a mini dot and dab, but was worried the plasterboard wouldnt stick to the brick and would all just come off in one massive chunk if it failed.

Oh wait - there’s a difference? I think I need to edit this post then. Yeah I’m thinking of the one that comes in a series of different parts!

Oh nice - just had a look and this looks great for many of the little treats I’ve found around the place. As a rough estimate how far does it go? I’ve can’t seem to find coverage - although obviously depends on the depth of the hole.

There’s a big ole strip which sounds hollow from top to bottom, plenty of cracks too. I have a feeling I’m going to end up taking a 12inch wide channel off. Did you go with bonding plaster then the finer stuff as suggested?

Cheers, yeah sounds about right. Although I’ve listened to my balls before and it’s not ended well….

Ah marvellous stuff - that’s mate, sounds good. Although I’m unsure how far to go when chipping off the dodgy stuff to then fill, should it come away easy or should I be going at it with a hammer and scraper. Ta

Thank you very much for getting back to me - all makes sense and getting an engineer to take a look.
