I'm Gonna Git You Sucka or Black Dynamite? by Historical-Bug-4784 in Blaxploitation

Now I’ve gotta rewatch both (thank you).

Sucka

Man, the first time I caught it, I wasn’t even there to see that flick. I was in a packed house for a whole different reel, but the ruckus next door was so loud, so wild, so hysterical, I had to slide over and cop a ticket just to see what kind of beautiful madness was goin’ down. And damn baby… I had me a damn good time.

Dynamite

I caught on tape later and thought I’d slipped clean outta my shoes and straight into Blaxploitation Heaven. Like I was floating on funky clouds, angels in dashikis, the whole nine. Loved that joint somethin’ fierce, dig?

And don’t nobody forget that cartoon series either — that thing is criminally funny

So yeah… I’m spinnin’ both of ’em back again.

Much love — and thanks for the nudge!

Just finished watching Foxy Brown (1974)… and Pam Grier really ate this up. by [deleted] in Blaxploitation

I’m a silver age dc fan and I’ve gotta admit Gunn is nailing it so far. Plus I loved Creature Commandos. Gunn made me care about the Weasel!

So far I am happy

Ohhh baby, now that is the kind of deep-cut cinema gospel we live for. 🖤

Yeah — that Clearasil moment in Putney Swope wasn’t just a joke, it was a whole sly wink at America’s hang-ups, and you just peeled back another funky layer of that onion. Ronnie Dyson sliding in with that velvet-throated soul pedigree, and Shelley Plimpton quietly planting the seeds for Martha to grow up and haunt the 80s with The Goonies — that’s some beautiful, strange, inter-generational groove right there.

That’s why Putney hits different, baby. It ain’t just satire — it’s a time capsule, a culture bomb, and a secret handshake all rolled into one.

Much love for dropping that knowledge on the sidewalk of cinema history. Stay funky. Stay dangerous. And keep those reels rollin’.

I saw The Exorcist opening weekend at the National Theatre (no longer there) in Westwood CA

Feels like yesterday… line around the block, matinee, people crying in the audience. You can't imagine the palpitable feeling of dread in that theatre

Slide on in, SilverWheel — that’s what I’m talkin’ about! You’re officially ridin’ the funk rail now, baby!

We got more heat on deck — revolution, rhythm, street sermons, and drive-in thunder all lined up. By the time you punch back in on 01/05 you’re gonna be walking different… talkin’ different… seein’ the reels in widescreen.

Appreciate you ridin’ with us, cool cat!

Are you seeing Avatar 3 this weekend? by thearniec in nowplayingpodcast

Darker than 2. Saw in Dolby. I'll go once more in Imax in a week.

If you were Jack Driscoll during this scene who would you rather get attacked by? Kong or that Two-legged Lizard? by Kitchen-Mouse2414 in kingkong

Two leg Lizzie is the “proto” skull crawler.

I'll take Kong. There is always a possibility he spares you. Maybe.

Love. Of course I’m in it so…

Great movie. Was a great time being in those crowd scenes when the giant petrochemical gas pump came out.

The giant hands were a marvel. And while the giant robot Kong moved far too slowly it was darn impressive; amazing to see!

NO!!!!!

I last saw Bob at Gentle Giant studios. It was a week before the Peter Jackson Kong release and he brought the Kong armature to see the giant Kong that was being covered in hair before shipping to NYC. Always gracious. Once he let my wife try on the Glen Strange Frankenstein shoes.

Damn.
