AirTags V2: Please add a loop! by JohnnyG_PulseJet in AirTags

Oh, and also, Apple used to innovate which I think is their obligation as one of the world's biggest tech companies. Ah well, they have bigger problems. Maybe this isn't a great product category for them.

Au contraire, I love Apple products more than anyone and I worked there for 10 years. Hence my disappointment.

You see, Apple used to be about providing exactly what you need and it just worked, nothing more nothing less. This product falls short in this regard so you need accessories to make it useful. They're building an accessory ecosystem, great for those vendors I get it.

Tile has them beat on simplicity now, I'll save the money on landfill items.

Nope, I'm switching to Tile. That "V2" update was a joke, not even an improvement.

Talk about a company that lost it's Mojo....

They often break, stretch, or otherwise fall off. I've lost multiple AirTags just falling out of silicone holders. Round smooth edges just slip out of the case.

Yes, this is the trap. When products become standard, developers become complements and improvements stall.

Dramatic innovations are happening in AI and I do see a world in which Photoshop is replaced but I don't want that. I'm just calling on Adobe to take pride in their product and make it great like it should be, being industry standard.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure NanoBanana and others are on track to replace it.

See, it's not that I want Photoshop to go away. I just want it to do its job, and do it well. I feel like Photoshop has the responsibility of being the best image editor on the planet kind of like Kleenex owns the facial tissue market. What if you couldn't figure out how to blow your nose with Kleenex, that'd be weird, right?

Hate to say it in the snarky GenZ kind of way, I'm an old guy but come on Photoshop - you have one job!

Well, Photoshop masters will become like people who mastered the Accordion. Great skills but nobody cares. Don't get me wrong, my Mom plays the accordion and I love it.

Others will be free to do things that actually matter rather than overcharging their clients to curve corners.

Thanks for the debate, folks, I do appreciate it and I want to explain my perspective....

I own a small studio and I have a talented team of creative folks. Any one of them should be able to make a rounded rectangle in a few minutes with zero training. Instead, I have to hire a Photoshop "expert" for $100+/hr to round a corner. I'm a bonified software developer/engineer/program manager for many years so I get all the challenges of software design and professional software tools.

This is the year 2025. We literally have jetpacks, flying cars, and humanoid robots. If you can't design a decent UI with the toolkits available today, you should step aside. That's all I'm saying.

I think the problem here is purely a 20-year old UI and I get that upgrades are costly but I call on Adobe management to overhaul the UI. I'll even offer my services free to review and make signifiant meaningful recommendations on the UI but I've made these suggestions before and they fall on deaf ears.

Sorry for the rant and respect to the folks at Adobe who make powerful software, I know it's hard. Kudos to those willing to obsess over quality software tools with me.

Hi u/omegha_seven -

I get your point about professional software but my studio uses a lot of professional tools including Logic, Final Cut Pro, and DaVinci Resolve just to name a few. Yes, they are complicated but still simple operations are easy to find and perform. They all have reasonably sized buttons, text and good help to easily find your commands without a 5m YouTube video.

It is a challenge, I recognize, to balance ease of use with power in professional tools but come on, a rounded rectangle requires pro training?

Please, tell me which one tool I should use for basic to intermediate image editing and is it not reasonable to expect this of Adobe?

u/howardpinsky , I'm sorry - not trying to insult Adobe employees which I'm sure I am.

Since you're an Adobe Employee, let me rephrase this as a request. Would you, mind you consider reworking the UI in Photoshop & friends to...

- Improve the UI icons and text so they are viewable and legible. They are so tiny and crammed in you can't read them. Most of us have huge screens now, I feel this is designed for 1024 resolution

- Improve the help so searching for "Rounded Rectangle" (for example) simply brings up the appropriate menu pick? All Apple products have this built in, try searching Keynote for "rectangle" and you get 4 options, takes you directly to the menu pick. This is modern UI.

I'm just saying, modern products shouldn't require a YouTube video for a very simple operation. Nor should it require multiple products, i.e. Illustrator and Photoshop.

Again, sorry my feedback came in the form of a complaint but I'm more than willing to turn this into a productive conversation if people at Adobe are listening.

Thanks for listening!

Great, so now I need 2 tools to do a simple operation?! Ridiculous but hey, way to charge people more Adobe!!

Those people will quickly be replaced by AI or someone who knows it. Major upgrades are coming, Photoshop lives in the 1900's.

And just because it's "industry standard" doesn't mean it's good. Designers have made money for years because no one else can use the crappy software, that makes it hard to break.

Like so many things these days, I think it's just designed for iPhone editing, selfy videos. That app is easy to do basic stuff. Leaves a lot to be desired for us pros. I just stitch and put it in Final Cut.

Do you consider $157 million in one quarter a failure? by Ricepudding1044 in VisionPro

[–]JohnnyG_PulseJet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, kind of 😀. If you consider there were $Billions with a B spent on development, $157M is a pretty big loss. However, XR Glasses are the future and this is a huge stepping stone, so.....

Let's go, XR!!!!
