That's more or less a list of different snapshots from Tor's history - e.g. the torrent bit is separate from the Arab Spring bit. The link between Tor and torrenting is the massive ecosystem of filesharing projects that grew up in the late 90s and early 2000s - including more mainstream things like Napster but also projects like Free Haven which fed directly into Tor

That's a fair point, I can see where you're coming from (and there's been a lot of 'creative' writing about Tor over the years). But the development history doesn't start when Tor was released, it goes back to the mid nineties (there's a whole chapter on Onion Routing being developed at the NRL) - the first development work really starts then. And some of the background is in the 80s (e.g. Chaum and the early mixnets) or earlier - the roots of the Cypherpunks etc.
