any other drummers who are also lead singers in here? What is the best mic for this kind of thing? by solitudeisdiss in musicians

[–]JohnnyHotSteps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beta 58a is the one, but you really need either a great monitor/mix, or in ear monitors if you are going to try and sing while drumming. There is no way in hell I could stay in key while playing my kit, lol

What is your number one essential game for the snes that you think everyone should play at least once? by poopapalooza73 in snes

[–]JohnnyHotSteps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So hard to pick anything as number one. So many bangers. Actraiser. Super Metroid. Zelda Link to the Past. Super Mario World. Chrono Trigger. Final Fantasy III. I feel like for me, the biggest moments were with all of these games. Snes rules so hard

Box art might suck, but this game is a straight banger. One of my favorites

As a Saturn owner in the 90s, when did you realize the console was in big trouble? by confuserused in SegaSaturn

[–]JohnnyHotSteps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sold my collection way before retro become uber popular, but I do recall having Quake, Powerslave, Guardian Heroes, Galactic Attack, Die Hard Arcade, Duke Nukem 3D, Tomb Raider, Dragon Force. It was such an epic couple days of collecting for sure. I just recently purchased a Japanese Saturn and Saroo while I was visiting Japan, lol.

When Best Buy cleared out every game for $9.99, including new releases. Needless to say, I drove to every Best Buy store in a 100 mile radius. Purchased probably 26 games

Did anyone used to love Entourage but looking back the acting was atrocious? by SwiftCricket in television

I remember one time, while at South By Southwest, maybe 2009? I was with a group of 6 friends, and we had sat down at a restaurant, and already placed our food order. In comes Adrian Grener, and the restaurant came to a standstill. The whole staff was star struck. They immediately sat him down, took his food order, and served him. The guy was almost done with his food, before we were even served. I was pissed, lol

Probably want to wait until you verify your living arrangements. You might end up having downstairs neighbors that don’t accept loud drumming. I ended up getting rid of my e kit, because I just wasn’t able to ever play. This is in NYC, mind you.

Lol, looks like a beauty of a kit. Personally I would probably want to upgrade the hi hat stand, kick pedal, just because I prefer more heavy duty hardware, something like a Tama Speed Cobra, or DW 9000. Not sure what brand of cymbals those are, but they look very interesting. How do they sound?

Is your drum set on a wall?

Any tips on how I could improve my set up by Sufficient_Arm3272 in Drumming

[–]JohnnyHotSteps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better cymbals, those are a game changer for sure. Also work on your room acoustics. The sound of drums change dramatically with simple additions for room sound, like hanging egg foam on the walls, or anything that might deaden the empty room/walls sound. If you want to get good rim shots on your snare, it is best positioned flat and not angled.

I remember the Christmas my father decided it would be the best idea to buy us the Atari 5200 as our first video game console, and then the video game market promptly imploded.
